Ouch, that is sorry to hear, try ordering from the retail and them to replace the armrest. You lucky the cat didn't take a shit in your car otherwise it'll smell for quite awhile.

funny, but...

I have a 20 lb Maine Coon. Now, that usually means a fat cat, but this guy's lean. Comes equiped with a set of can openers on each paw (which are bigger that you'd think comes on cats). He used to like to hand out in the window above my bed at night and look out the window. I'd make sure to scoot over far enough into the bed to leave him landing room when it was time to come down. One night I was soooo tired, that I realized I needed to move over as I passed into unconciousness. I awoke an hour later--he had jumped down and his back claw had barely grazed me, right between the eyes. I sat up and instantly felt the blood pouring down my face. Checked in the bathroom mirror and said, "oh that's what my skull looks like"--like a scalpel cut to the bone. He seemed to feel pretty bad about it and wouldn't go sit in the window for a week. (Thank goodness he wasn't over just a little bit--I'd be blind in one eye.)

He a sweet guy, and is pretty gentle, but he's a stud and the breeder is absolutely terrified of him (he hisses at her and adapts an agressive posture because he smells the other male cat scents on her)--she knows what one of these cats can do to a person when they're pissed off. Seriously, I've seen big dogs back away from him timidly while he's just sitting there totally indifferent to them.

hehe, anyway, was just thinking that this would be the wrong cat to torture if someone tried.

But on topic, I've taken him in my car a lot--mostly hangs out on the floor or back deck--but the sane thing to do is buy a carrier for like $35 at pet store. If you leave it open and let them play in it a little when you first get it, they don't mind getting in it at all, and you don't have to worry about car damage or them bolting into traffic when you need to get them out of the car.
