A B16 embarassed me last night

i went to my local mall yesterday at around 1 am cause a lot of tuners hang out there after hours and check out each other's rides and what not....saw a cool supra and some nice civics....anyways, just about 90% of the civics were turbo...and i had a lot of the ricers talkin shit to me about how any one of those civics could beat me anyday...i was pretty pissed, so told them to go fuck themselves...

i left after chillin a little bit, and noticed some of the civic guys got in their cars and started following me to the highway..i got on the highway and this little POS red civic hatchback from the early 90's pulls up next to me and honks...we were goin about 60 and this was one of the turbo ones....so i get in SS mode and downshift and we go at it after three honks....OMG he fuckin pulled half a car length on me...thats how it stayed until we hit 100mph and then i caught up and pulled until i had 1.5 car lengths on him....i took my exit and went home, i was utterly amazed and embarrassed that my car had to struggle to win...i need mods...

PS i dont know if this means anything, but i had a 200 pound friend in the car...lol still doesnt really make me feel better haha

afterwards i spoke to a friend of mine that drives a really nice mazdaspeed 6, and he told me i was lucky to have beat that civic...lol

um yea... what did you expect if the civic was turbo? Plus your car is automatic so that doesnt help it either. You gotta give the civic crowd a little credit even if they do talk shit. They weigh close to nothing and can be pretty quick with less hp.

the key is to beat them before they reach full boost. Once they reach full boost your gonna have ur hands full. Are cars are too heavy to compete with light powerful cars like that.

i mean, i give them credit, but no need to talk shit, i didnt put down their cars or question their abilities in any way

ive beaten a turbo integra on the highway (my passanger knew the guy and we just happened to see him on the road) it was definatly fast as hell tho,i probly only had a half car length at best on him by the time we let off.

but yesterday was a differant story. i cant turn anything down... first an e46 m3, i was surprised at how well i was keeping up until 110 then i got dusted. then on the way back from where i was headed when i bumped into the m3, up comes a 6.0 gto. and damn, that thing moved. the guy was pretty cool too, when we found a good opening from traffic we slowed to about 50 and 3 beep started, i hung with him until i had to shift, then it was like i was stopped. all and all yesterday just wasnt my day to win

sorry about the off topic rant, i just realized i was doing that...

try to get a little back on topic, how do you like the mazdaspeed6 ive always been kind of fond of them but never had a chance to drive one, never mind sit in one.

lol this thread cracks me up. It's a luxury sport baby not a race car - but I bet if you build it right with the $$ you can go fast too.

I got a built b18C in my hatchback & mustang owners hate me. :p

the speed6 is ridiculous, its seriously a REALLY nice car for the money, my friend has nice seats (leather) navi, cd changer, sunroof, AWD!! and a 2.3 litre turbo charged engine...he got it all for around 30k, and on top of all that, its fast, he upgraded the turbo to a bigger one, put an intake, and exhaust on there and got methanol injection like the other day....i love it

What you need to do is get a 6-speed transmission not a supercharger. Dont use forced induction as a way to counter your lack of driving skills.

Lack of driving skills? Its an auto, all he really has to do is mash the pedal and slap the SS shifter at redline and he's fine, not like shifting real gears in a manual so theres not really many ways for him to mess that up

yea id have to say your wrong, it probably wasnt driver skills. a turbo civic with a b16? probably a LOT lighter than the CL, and im guessing if its modded with turbo im guessing its got close to the same power that a cl does....so id take the civic, dont be emerassed...just feel bad for him becasue he drives a car that everyone else does

yea but those little hondas are no joke, my friend has a turboed crx hatchi (early 90's) that thing is quicccccccccccck, and these people dont care much if they blow their engines they can go to any junk yard and get another real cheap, they will be running high levels of boost, no need to be embarassed, throw a turbo on your car and run at 15 psi and see what happens, you'd leave em in your rear view

Exactly! thanks for proving my point. It takes no skill to drive an auto. So I stand behind my original statement.

How was that an embarassing race? It was close. I can think of some races with HUGE gaps between 2 cars, now those were embarassing. You did good, and he's car based on this race, is slow as shit.

Ya if you were only a bit behind and eventually pulled on him, his civic wasn't that fast man.

I pulled up to a light one time and saw a 4DO accord with a 2 foot CF wing and exhaust, telling my friend "damn look at this ricer"...So obviously I wanted to race and show him what's up. I pulled on him from a 5-10 roll through first gear, was a car ahead shifting into second. Then I said "oh fuck" as soon as I heard the BOV on the shift... by the top of second at 75 he was probably near 3 cars ahead! Granted, I had a 225 pound passenger and he was by himself. plus FI. I think FI does more for cars here because of the altitude. I probably would have done better without 225 extra pounds, but regardless I got worked. This is with headers BTW.

drive a 2.2CL for 3 years and you wont be saying that. its easy to say that if you have a 260hp J-series. im so glad i finally made the move for the H22.

i dont see how a swapped civic could piss you off that much??

H/A should have just made the H22 stock in the CL, but of course not because that would have cannabalized the J30...H22+MT>J30+AT

Actually it's not easy to be satisfied even with the 260hp! It was nice at first but you get used to it and want more

First of all, it didnt "piss" me off, i just felt embarassed, for multiple reasons like the car looked like it was about to fall apart, and it had multiple color body panels and it sounded like shit....but YET it gave me a run for my money...well i technically DID drive a 2.2CL for a year and half, my 1996 accord ex F22!. it was slow as crap, but it was my first car and i loved it. then i moved onto the 2000 accord F23.. which wasnt much faster... ...but im not gonna lie, i love my J32...now if the dealer can hurry up putting that transmission on it so i can go drive it today
