b-pipe resonator?

For the CL-S exhaust, the b-pipe (as well as the comptech one) goes pipe to a big canister to more y-pipe to mufflers.

What is that big canister? I'm assuming it's a resonator to lower sound?

The reason I'm asking is that I'm looking to get the exhaust shop to mandrel bend piping from my cat to my mufflers to get a more agressive tone. I'm wondering if they don't have the resonator there though if it's going to just end up sound like poop .

Thx y'all.

i have a feeling it will be loud, but i'm not sure if insane is the right word. i'm going to have a custom setup done without a resonator, i just want to hear what it sounds like. it's easy enough to go in and add a resonator later on, so yea.

Yeah, it's the resonator. You want to keep it.

When I had my Magnaflows installed, I had it knocked out and replaced with a straight pipe. Result? It was pretty unbearable to drive around under 3k RPM.

I ended throwing in a 22" Magnaflow resonator.

I have the Comptech B-pipe with stock exhaust and it gives it a nice throaty sound. Almost like the 350z exhaust.

I had a set up just like it. Tubing from the cat all the way to the mufflers. Also there was no resinator. The first few miles and or when you start the car cold, will have resonence. once enough carbon builds in the pipes the sound will deminish. By the way the sound is quite loud but doesnt sound bad, however it could getting anoying due to DROOOONING at cruising speed. So if you go the custom route get some sort of high flow res. or just get the b-pipe if you really want all that replaced.

I had some magnaflows installed and asked them to leave out the resonator... the droning and resonance was just way too annoying. I went back a couple of weeks later and had them install a magnaflow 18' resonator and it sounds great. I would suggest going without it at first though. It is a lot easier to put in a resonator after the fact if it is too loud. if you put one in from the begining and decide it is too quite they will have to redo the piping which will cost a lot more.
