It's probably at least 5 whp, maybe a tad more... I did some more runs up through the gears today and definetly feel the additional power... a little bit more low end torque and pulls stronger in VTEC. Beside, the exhaust note is soooo sweet... except for the increased droning... I don't think it was a waste of $$$. Besides, I'm planning on a SC next year...

Is this something that I can install in my garage with my ratchet set and some jack stands like my HKS exhaust or do I need an impact wrench?? And what do you mean by "droning"?? Is this just a CT exhaust issue??

i cant believe people are paying anything over 250 for this thing. I had a custom 2.25 exhaust fabricated out of mandrel bends for under 4 hundred with mufflers, resonator, and y pipes. All bolt on and off. He was gonna charge me the same for a 2.5 inch pipe. I give it to comptech on having great pruducts but 4 and change for a b pipe is a litle rediculous.

Hum.. the I wonder if there was a way to make the pipe equal length where it does the split into two mufflers? Wouldn't that be better?

Yes alot of R&D went into the piping... You want equal flow

and you pointed out my spelling mistakes before!! Little is spelled with 2 "t"'s... Mr. grammer teacher...:P

I agree, but 4 bills is the list price, I am sure it will come down in price over time..

And yes, you guys can bolt the exhaust right up to your cars with jackstands and wrenches... Air tools would make this a 30 minute job.

Smitty, i dont remember ever correcting your spelling. And i know how to spell little, i was just typing fast on a laptop. My exhaust is fully a bolt on bolt off deal. I even had flanges put on the resonator and a straight pipe so that i can switch between the two at will. Also for about 250 you can have someone make you one that will be bolt on and bolt off. I just cant justify spending that much money. Imagine 1000 for headers + 500 for exhaust + 400 for b-pipe. with labor you are looking at like 2300 bucs. Thats a lot of money for 20 hp throughout the rpm range.

$450 for 3-5hp? What are they nuts??

Does it at least get rid of that hideous y-pipe when viewed from behind? That’s my biggest pet peeve with our cars.

Yep, it will work... bolt right up without a problem.. I have to call the exhaust guy tonight.. the dump was suppose to be here last week.. He had a kidney stone he was trying to pass so his health was not too good.. I told him to take his time since I was more concerned about his health..

He had it completed, but went to bore the BUNG for the O2 sensor and the drill bit, grabbed the tubing and smashed the pipe off the machine about 200 times before it came to a halt.... so he had to start all over... he is making really cool flanges so the dump can be rotated if the flanges are alittle off.. but once I test fit it, I will take pics and send it back to him to make a few....

I ordered the B-pipe through Dean today.

Logan and I heard you did the same.. ..
P.S. your super tranny shipped today too...

Hmmm, it looks sweet but is there anyway you can get a shot from farther back?

Also did you hear any sound/tone difference?

Under $400 sounds good bigman. I was thinking of doing the same thing. Do you have any pictures? I would really like to see, it would help me make up my mind. Thanks

BTW: I thought our stock pipes were already 2.25" I was thinking of doing a custom 2.5" because of the nitrous.

I don't believe it's any lower than the OEM b-pipe was.

Forgot about that detail... the OEM b-pipe is roughly 96x24x6 and weight around 30 lbs... so shipping would be almost $275 to say WA, the almost the cost of a new b-pipe. That's why I'm only selling to people in the S.F. Bay Area.

I love the look..very mean but for some reason I still think the Comptech exhaust is just too small for the cl-s bumper...I would get the B-pipe and the HKS draggers lifted slightly so the hang perfect...then you will have a very aggresive looking CL-S rear

I think the exhaust would look better if the tips were centered on the oval bodywork cutouts. Or maybe some cleanly designed black trim around the bodywork cutouts would make the CT exhaust look better.

After about 5 days of running with the CT b-pipe, here's my take:
  • Droning: For those who were complaining about the CT exhaust drone, they will have even more to complain about. As I mentioned in my earlier review, droning with the CT b-pipe is worse. The RPM range and magnitude of the droning has increased - see my previous review for estimates. Also, I'll probably install the quiet tips.
  • Sputter: Very subtle. Can only be heard ever so slightly during off-throttle operations, but not all the time. I haven't pulled the plugs yet to see if car is running too lean. I called Shad at CompTech and he said that the ECU may compensate in a few weeks.
  • Performance: Jury is still out. It's hard to tell if there has been any gains. My sense is that there's a little more bottom end torque and VTEC pulls a little stronger. But I know from experience that the engine and exhaust note can give you false impressions about how much gains or losses in power you really have. Engine also feels much more smooth throughout the RPM range. Car seems more drivable than before.
  • Next steps: I will be visiting CompTech shortly and will attempt to address the following issues:
    * Have CompTech dyno my car to see if I've gained or lost any power throughout the RPM range.
    * Have CompTech check the CO/FA numbers to see if car is running too lean.
    * Run another dyno on my car after the quiet tips are installed to see how much power gets lost.
  • Is it worth it?: If you don't mind the droning and if performance is really improved, I'd say yes. But this will also depend on what I find out from my visit with CompTech. Also, judging by how much corrosion and rust I've seen from pictures of the OEM b-pipe people have posted, this alone might make it worth it to go with an all SS b-pipe.
