B-Pipe
I spoke with Bob at Comptech, one of the owners a few weeks ago. He said that all the parts are in house waiting to be welded together. I also spoke so Joe at Comptech last Friday (10/10/03) and he said looks like it could be another month or so before they are ready to ship any b-pipes.

My b-pipe was shipped out today.
It's expected to arrive at the dealership tomorrow and will get installed this coming Monday. However, mine was apparently 1 of 3 that were back ordered and now completed. There are more in the production queue. Although not listed on CT's website yet, the retail cost is $450. A bit pricey I'd say, but I'm planning on a SC sometime next year. The dealership who I bought my CLS 6sp from will be installing it and will only charge me $438 installed. Also, the b-pipe comes in two bolt-together pieces to hold down shipping costs. I'll let you guys know how things work out after the install.
This will complete my mod road-map for my CLS 6sp for this year. Bought the car end of Jan. this year. In April, I installed CT intake/headers/springs/sways and Pilot Sports A/Ss. Two weeks ago, I installed CT exhaust/strutbar and konis. Next week's install of the b-pipe will complete things for this year.
All I can say is: wow car is so much more enjoyable to drive then when I first got it. Power, handling, sound... Can't wait for the SC, Brembo brake kit, Volks Racing wheels and Pilot Sport 235s.

What's the word ??????????
B-Pipe is installed.
So now my '03 CLS 6sp has CT intake/headers/b-pipe/exhaust. Also CT springs/sways/strutbar and konis.
Here's my quick review:

So now my '03 CLS 6sp has CT intake/headers/b-pipe/exhaust. Also CT springs/sways/strutbar and konis.
Here's my quick review:
- Price: $428 installed.
- Droning issue: Contrary to a rumor, the b-pipe doesn't reduce the droning introduced by the CT axle-back exhaust, it adds to it. Prior to installing the b-pipe, CT axle-back exhaust droning was only an issue around 2250 - 2500 RPM while cruising. But now, the droning sound can be heard loader from about 1500 - 2550 RPM during acceleration and cruising. I'm now considering the quiet tips.
- Exhaust note: When you're on it, it's soooo sweet - much more pronounce than just the CT exhaust. A little bit more raspy and snarls. I swear, it sounds like a Ferrari.
- Power: Jury is still out, but my first impression is that there's more bottom end torque and VTEC kicks in even stronger. CompTech estimates a 2-3 whp gain for non-SC and 4-5 whp with SC. I swear there's more than 4-5 whp gain by how it now pulls in the low end and snaps in VTEC. But maybe I'm being fooled by the sweet exhaust note. More testing needed...
- Quality: Same quality as the CT exhaust.
- Possible Issue: When shifting or off-throttle you can hear a snarl - very slight sputter/popping. Makes me think engine is leaning out when lifting throttle. I checked the exhaust tips and it doesn't appear to be running too lean. I'll pull some plugs next to make sure.

The CompTech B-Pipe has the following dimensions:
This sucker is really long... not sure of the I.D. or how much bigger the pipe is over OEM. I'll be able to tell when I pick it up from the dealership tomorrow with my pickup. Obviously, it didn't fit in my car last night.
Here are some pictures: (100% SS throughout)

NOTE: even though I didn't capture it in any of these pictures, the b-pipe is made of two bolt together pieces. There's a compression fitting a few inches in front of the resonator, toward the cat.
- Axle-back Y-Fitting: ~30 inches across with 1.95 inch O.D., same O.D. as the axle-backs.
- From Y-fitting to Resonator: ~30 inches, 2.55 inch O.D.
- Resonator: ~6 inches long canister
- From Resonator to the Cat : ~50 inches, 2.55 inch O.D.

BTW - forgot to mention that the dealership gave me a brand new '04 TL loaner with only 300 miles on it. It was white with parchment interior. Nice to drive and very comfortable but not very sporty. The interior was terrible - burl wood and metal accents??? yuk... Also, quiet inside but sounds like a tin can. Very cheap... my CL looks higher quality... It feels a little slower than my '01 CLS was. There are some nice instrumentation and features I was I had in my CL.
But overall, not impressed... I was glad to get back into my CL...

I just talked with CompTech this morning and I was told that they have some recent dynos of a non-SC'd CLS 6sp that had nearly 5 whp gain with the b-pipe. From what I noticed last night and as I mention before, it feels like my car has at least 5 more whp. Bottom end feels torquier and vtech pulls a little stronger. Also, the other thing I noticed is that the engine appears to climb through the revs quicker.
