Axis Se7en Mod MAXIS... have you heard of this yet?

So I'm looking for a good price on 19" Se7en Mods and I'm on Spy Engineering's website and they (along with a few other sites I saw) offer the Se7en Mod in a MAXIS version. Basically the rear wheels have a 3.25" lip instead of the usual 2.5" without changing the wheel diameter to give the "staggered" apperance. Does this mean it is a different offset?? It doesn't say the offset changes from 45 mm...and the MAXIS wheels are $40 more per wheel. ($380 vs. $420) Also.... the tire/wheel packages they have in 235/35/19 are.......

Toyo Proxes FZ4.........$2,149

Nitto NT555................$2,219

BFG BLK Scorcher.....$2,413

Toyo Proxes T1S.........$2,349

Pirelli P Zero Rosso....$2,439

Pirelli P Zero Nero......$2,489

Dunlop SP 9000..........$2,559

My budget is around the Toyo or Nitto price range because I want to get these "black chromed" which is gonna cost another $600. Do those packages sound reasonable?

sound like fair prices, but i dunno about a staggered setup on a fwd car...

i'd drop your car before u get some 19's, 19's will look best w. coilovers

Coilovers = $$$$$ I'm thinking H&R Sport Springs for a 2"/1.75" drop.

The problem with that is buying two different kits. They aren't sold individually.

Also with the race drop... I would DEF need to roll the fenders. Although I will probably have to do that anyways.

Yeah I realize it wouldn't be functional...but a 3.25" lip!!!!! I'm gonna have these "black chromed" too by Goodrich Technology just like the Hagens that were posted a few weeks ago.

19" with a polished lip... black chrome... staggered 2.5"/3.25"

mrsteve,
it will look good. everyone is right that it wont serve a purpose, but how many people who have staggered setups on RWD cars actually need it (performance wise)?

I'm all excited about it... but I have to wait till Spring. Also, one downside... with a 3"+ lip those 19"s aren't gonna look like big 19"s. But having a lip than size

I just bought mine from Derek at Spy Engineering. I got the 19x8 Se7en Mods w/ Yokohama Spec-2 225/35/19 for $2100 shipped. They shipped 4 days later than I was PROMISED but I got 'em. When I opened the package, they forgot one center cap...so I still can't put 'em on my car. They gave me free lock nuts for the delayed shipping but sent me the wrong ones (I found out when trying to wrench the nut onto the car...and stripped 1 cm of thread on the bolt. They seem to be priced fairly and they seem to stand behind their products, but my experience hasn't been exactly "smooth" to say the least. Don't do the Maxis unless you plan on buying alot of new tires for the front wheels. You can't rotate! Also, the Maxis won't clear the brakes on the front. The regular lip barely clears them.

The MAXIS only goes in the rear... giving the "staggered" look.

Sounds cool, but not sure about it since you are driving a FWD car. I'd have to see it to have an opinion.

The one thing that would suck though is that you won't be able to rotate your tires. Seems impractical to me, even if it would look good. If you decide to do you you must post pics

Nah... those are only 18" and they aren't the MAXIS version. Those have ONLY a 2" lip.

I honestly don't think it will look very staggered. You're only talking about a difference of .75". The thing that REALLY gives that staggered appearance in rear-wheel drive cars is the width of the tire (along w/ a little bit of lip). Look at the GS430 example they have on their website. That thing has 285 series rear tires on 20x10's w/ a 3.75" lip!!! Since you're running the same width front and back I believe the Maxis will not be very noticable. So, $80 extra for 2 maxis + new front tires every 2 years = no worth it IMHO...hence I didn't go for them. But, that's just me.

My biggest concern is not being able to rotate the tires. Although... just regular se7en mods would look nice in "black chome"

I have the se7en mods in 18" on my 1st gen...the fact that they can't be rotated kept me away from going with the MAXIS lip. I didn't buy mine from SPY, but I would recommend them, they're knowledgeable and helpful

I thought the MAXIS version was no more than a cosmetic change to the actual wheel. You get the regular Mods in 19x8, offset +45, and the Mod/MAXIS 19x8 offset +45....and it's virtually the same wheel.

From what I've heard, and can tell, the Maxis version's spokes just curve in more to create the extra lip space. SO, it's not really staggered it just looks that way.

I don't know if the curvature of the Mod/MAXIS' spokes will clear the front calipers, but the wheels should be able to be rotated otherwise, but it would look ugly

But hey, I don't know everything...my sources might not be correct. Just .02 cents to think about.

lol, it would be pretty funny to have your lip bigger in the front for a few months, then moved to the back for a few months...

You are right the Maxis lip is just that, its still a 19x8 +45 just has more curve to it for the lip

If the 3.25 lip fits the rear, you should be able to mount it on the front too. so why not just ask them if you can get all four wheels with the same lip?

You could do that no problem...well actually might wanna check the clearence between the caliper and the front spokes, on mine there is only enough room to slide paper between, its very close. So depening on how much more the Maxis spokes curve it should work.

The MAXIS won't clear the front brakes. My regular lip only clears by about 3mm. It's so close I thought I'd strip off my calipers the first time I drove the car off.

Its not really staggered, because the wheel is the same size. It just has a bigger lip which makes it look staggered.
