Cool autostick question

i have a question for anyone out there that may know the answer. I have an 01 cl-s with alot of work done to motor. i buddy just got an 03 g35 coupe and when he is in manual mode in his car he can hold 1st gear all the way to redline with out it shifting for him. My question is in my acuar if im not on it hard it will shift to 2nd for me in manual mode. a feature i dont really like. is there a way to eliminate this feature or am i just stuck with this flaw? any answers will help...Thanks

^^ You are stuck with the automatic shift to 2nd.

BTW......what transmission are you on? Your second, third?

IIRC you can pop in down into first (Gate shift) and it will stay in first.

instead of pulling the lever over to the left (Autostick), pull the lever down (back) to the 2nd gear position then left to get to first gear. You are just manually moving the lever into each gear. That is the only way you can keep it from auto shifting into 2nd.

Also on the highway auto stick will not let you down shift to 3rd at a certain speed nor will the tranny auto downshift if you are in d5 to 3rd. You have to manuall pull the lever down to third. I cant remember what speed, somewhere around 85 to 90mph or so I think.

Just take the car out on the highway floor it and see how high your speed is when it shifts to 4th. Then you know at what speeds it safe to manually drop it to 3rd with our bouncing off the rev limiter.

um id say the new AEM stand alone would allow complete control over shifts

level ten makes a 750$ unit which has every capability over the transmission... with different programed modes also.

How will shifting hard make you faster? Just sounds like its putting more strain on the components that already have enough as it is.

More elaboration on these 2, and less thread hijacking.

AEM makes a replacement ecu for your car that would allow you to change just about everything ... the auto upshift 1-2 vtec IMRC redline ect... a/f

IIRC, the AEM EMS only supports the auto motor sensor set, but it does not control the auto tranny itself.
