I think there is a switch to turn it on and off. You might want to double check that it didn't get bumped or shut off accidentally.

Wow. I love this forum. I didn't really have anything to benchmark mine with and I thought it was bright. I'm always wondering if that was all that it tinted. I can bet you that mine's gone too. Thanks guys.

It's a warrantable issue ,either the glass is shot or the ball socket mount breaks it is not unusual and I think all dealers stock the mirror .

Yeah the mirror has a limited lifetime. I only turn it on when i need it.

I wish we can have it turn on only when the headlights are on. I only need it at night when headlamps from annoying Explorers and Expeditions are behind you.

JENS, is that a valid statement? I have had mine on for 3 and 1/2 years w/o turning it off. Should I turn it off during the day to extend its life? The first mirror died after 3 years; the top half stopped dimming.
THANKS

After mine broke and I got a new one, I turned it off. Before I had it on all the times. Now I only turn it on if I get blinded in the night, then turn it back off

HAd mine replaced about 6 months ago under warranty. Started giving me the "halo" effect. I leave mine all the time also.. I figure that is ok, too much to worry about, turn on dimmer, turn off dimmer. So I just leave it on

turn it off and then turn it on at night. you should be able to tell a difference in other cars headlights.

the one that broke on me only dimmed the top half of the mirror.

I have a 2001 3.2CL. Had my mirror replaced under warranty. Dealer told me the liquid in the mirror leaked out. Anyway, it's better than new.

Tonight I just noticed that mine is no longer working either. Anyone know the cost for a replacement? My car is at 83K and thus out of warranty ........

if you have tint in the rear and want to test it, try shining a flashlight on it and turn it on and off to see if there is any change.
