Auto Tensioner Replaced

I just got back from the dealer, Nalley Acura for you local guys, where they replaced the accessory belt tensioner. It started making noise recently when the AC was on. The additional load from the AC compressor caused it to squeak. Before taking it in I wanted to verify it was the tensioner and not part of the SC system as that would be on my own bill. So taking out the trusty stethoscope confirmed the faulty item.

Before making the appointment I spoke to one of the service writers. I wanted to confirm in advance that since this part was not directly related to the supercharger that there was not going to be any issues. Otherwise I would take care of it. He stated that since the SC wasn’t driven directly off this part and since they knew they occasionally failed that they would take care of it.

That just goes to show that dealers can accept modded cars if you work with them on the issue and discuss the matters in a respectable way. If the SC had been a possibility of the tensioner failing I would never expect or ask them to handle it. Many thanks to Darrell (the service advisor) and Pete (the technician) for taking care of it so quickly.

BTW, they really liked the intercooler...

It's reassuring to hear when a dealer/service writer thinks before he speaks. Too bad this isn't reported more frequently.

Not for a few months.

But then again, I haven't run the heater for a while and nor will I again until about November.
