Auto down window

Just got my car back from the dealer. I have the same problem with the Auto down not working in hot weather. The dealer tried replacing the motor, that didn't work. They call Tech.support and where told to try the Multiplex control. That did't work. They where then told to take apart the connectors in the door and make sure all the pins were plugged in correctly. They thought that did it, but last night it was hot and the same problem is still there. I did find out that the window will work ok if the switch is set to on, but not if the car is running. Has anyone gotten to the cure yet?

Nope, dealer had no clue and I just lower it manually now. Let me know if you find a cure and get them to come out with a service bulletin on it so the rest of the people dont go through the same thing

dougp203,

I have exactly the same problem with the window. I got the switch replaced, did not fix it.

Also, if the switch on the car is not running, it works oksy. I guess this is a bug in the design.

I gave up.

I believe this is not an isolated probem. I found this on the NHTSA website. Try NHTSA

Yeah, I got this problem as well. They replaced the switch and regulator so far and the problem is still there.

I had my switch and motor replace a couple of weeks ago. Still fails. I have noticed though that it is not just hot weather, the car has to be sitting under a bright sun, and my guess is that it has to be pointing north (sun in the west hitting the drivers side door).

Same here. Just started after having the car for a year. Was parked in the sun, over 80* and it happened. After trying it a couple of times it cleared up. Hasn't happened since.

Would this be considered a safety issue and therefore warrant a recall?

I've got an aftermarket alarm with Auto windows. The problem is gone. Before the alarm my car would sit in the sun for a bit and not go down. Now after the alarm in even hotter weather it still works. So it might be wiring related?? Not sure, but now I have Auto up and down for the drivers side AND passenger's side. Just get auto windows!
