I am finally gettin to my valve adjustment. I haven't gotten around to getting a service manual yet so if anyone can help, what are the valve specs for the 2003 TL-S? I figured it would be the same as the CL-S seeing as how we all have the same motor. Thanks. Any help is much appreciated. Also, any other things I should know about before attempting to re-adjust my valves? I heard something like I'll need a to put in a new head gasket everytime I remove the head, etc. Any information would be helpful. Thanks again.

depending on the condition of ur orig valve cover gasket will determine if u will need to buy new ones. I recommend buying some new valve cover gaskets and spark plug gaskets. When you pop them off...determine if they need replacement. if u don't use them then just return them. Whenever I do a valve adjustment I make a judgement on vehicle mileage and condition of gaskets. If they were seeping fluid or dry rotted or whatnot.

As for the specs...from what I remember the TL-S and CL-S are the same. i don't have the actuall specs with me but you can just pop the hood and look on the underside of the hood for the spec sticker. It has all the valve lash specs there.

Also..make sure the engine is as cold as possible when adjusting!!!Extremely important!!!
Other than that you should be OK. good luck

I actually have my CF hood on and that doesn't have the specs. The original hood is at a friends house, who is on vacation at the moment. Anyway anyone can look under the hood of the type S and let me know? A friend of mines actually went on Alldata and told me the intake valves were .20-.25mm and the exhaust valves were .28-.32mm. Just throwing numbers out there in case these look familiar to you Ant7701. Thanks for all your help.

The Helms manual lists the clearances at .20-.24mm intake and .28-.32mm for exhaust. An intake manifold gasket might be a good idea as the manual says you have to remove the TB and intake to get the valve covers off. I've never adjusted valves on a CL though so it might be possible without doing this but it doesn't look like it is.

No need to replace the intake manifold gasket....it's a metal gasket and will be fine. on the other hand if you detach the throttle body from the intake manifold u should repace that gasket due to the fact that it's a paper/cardboard type gasket and will rip when de-attaching.
