ATTENTION: Baltimore area cl-s owners with XS power headers
Hello,
If you live in the Baltimore city/Baltimore Co. area and have XS power headers... I would like to ask you if i could hear and feel the difference these headers make. I have been looking around for a NON comptech header, and these seem to be it. If you wouldnt mind showing off your car for a bit for me, please let me know.
thanks!

XS and MEgan heaers are the way to go IMHO... if u have the money, go for comptech but for 150 bucks, a lot of users here have XS and they seem to work just as good as comptech.. just without the name.....
1200 vs 150... u doecide.

Oh, Im not spending $1300 for a set of headers... comptech can bite me. WAY over priced IMHO.
I only wanted to check out the XS headers first hand prior to purchasing... but it doesnt seem there is anyone in the baltimore area that has them or has them and is willing to show them off...

I usually say the same thing. But here's the problem. I've been buying (expensive) Comptech products for 4 years now because I was paying for the piece of mind and the reputation that Comptech offered.
Now that's all out the window. What do I get now for buying a remaining set of Comptech headers? There's nothing to back them up anymore.
The XS headers are an exact clone of the Comptech 6-Speed headers and for $150 you just can't go wrong. Most dealerships charge more than that just to install Comptech headers.
I thought the pricing was more like $350 but at $150 it's an absolute steal.
I'm gonna have to pick up a set myself. I sold my Comptech's over a year ago because I thought I was going to sell my car. But for $150 and 2 hours in the garage to pick up 30whp why the hell not!

It wasn't worth the risk for me to spend $150.00 then 2.5 hours in my garage and hope the XS headers wouldn't fit properly. On top of that I would have had to purchase better hardware. From what I read on the forum the hardware isn't quite up to par.
I was lucky and found my Comptech headers for a great price and had them Jet Hot coated so my total cost was within my budget, and substainally less than the retail price of $1300.00.
But, as others have said... If you want bang for the buck, give XS a try. If it sucks then you are only out $150.00.

I could understand if it was the crappy Megan or OBX headers that had tons of problems. But these have been around for quite some time now without any problems because they are an exact clone of the Comptech's.
Comptech prices were so high because of their R&D. Also I think their sales helped fund their race program as well.

the more i read this thread, the more tempted i am to give it a try (b/c ya $150-200) , but i just don't have the time to have the car go back in the shop in case there is a problem. with the Comptech's, they were tried and tested and i saw the power numbers.
i am still looking for headers myself, but i have a feeling Comptech will re-open under a new name in a bit

Good Luck... I live 10 minutes from Germantown, MD and have had the worse time locating someone. So I bit the bullet and I take my car to Criswell Honda for services or issues that I can not address at home in my garage.

So the hardware that you replace are the bolts, washers, and nuts that connect the manifolds to the downpipe?
OEM hardware should be still utilized for the rest of the install.

Why not? I used OEM bolts on my Comptech's. XS is a clone of Comptech.
I guess we'll see once they arrive.

Ok so after 30+ posts... not one seems to be helping answer the original call for help.
Maybe we should stick to the topic and request at hand folks..

Obviously no one local to you has the headers and thus the topic has shifted slightly off your initial question. The XS power headers will perform the same as the Comptech headers. Would you like to see a video?
