Couple nights ago I was going down to Whittier on the 605 and some HIDs coming up fasty behind me caught my eye: it was an M3. So naturally, I wanted to get a piece. So I kept riding him and egging him on until finally at 70 we both hit it. Fuck. That thing took off on me like a jet plane. I don't know if he was modded but at about 110 he already had 4 cars on me so I let it go. That sucked but I have a new found respect for M3s.

Luckily, a couple miles down the road I got to redeem myself against a brand new 328i (it still had the dealer plates). From about 60 to 90 I took him. Had a few runs and I always came out on top. I don't know much about BMWs but shouldn't I have gotten smoked by that 328i? I know it's the slowest of the 3 series but if the 335i is pushing 400 hp shouldn't this thing have somewhere around 300? Hmm. I don't know but it was a mixed night for me. Glad I at least got to redeem myself with that victory though.

 

328s have about 230 hp so you should pull on him at speed. M3's are fast as shit as you found out. I was riding shotgun in my buddies E46 M3 drop top while we were racing a sportbike up a hill on a highway. He had a passenger too, but it was surprisingly even, mostly cause the m3 has a 8 grand redline and 333hp to use in it.

 

335i is roughly in line with the e46 m3, even though it is 'rated' at 300hp. 328i has 230hp, but still has a 0-60 in the mid 6's. definitely not slow cars, by any means.

 

You're saying an E46 Convertible M3 with 2 people in it kept up with a sport bike up a hill? Hmmm. That car is quick, no doubt, but it only traps 105mph in the 1/4 mile so it isn't THAT fast to keep up with a bike. I'm assuming, of course, that it wasn't a 100cc bike.

 

m3's top end torque is pretty crazy. I've driven my friends 05 m3 and that thing keeps pulling, even in 6th gear. I wonder if a s/c cl can run even w/ one?

 

I've ran M3s and taken them.... not by much but definetly a car length or 2.
