Astroboy--quick question about Konis.

I know I already asked you this, but what settings do you have on your Konis? I'm getting the Konis and sways on Wednesday and I want to know what t ostart off with. I'd like to have a nice firm ride without losing any fillings when I hit a bump.

Also, to adjust the Konis you can only turn them one full turn--so you just chose your setting within a single 360 degree turn--ie one-half of a single turn, 3/4 of a single turn? Is that correct? I only ask this b/c when I pulled them out of the box and gave them a little twist they just rotated without it seeming to make any difference in how stiff they were (I used a bathroom scale to approximate how much pressure it took to compress them after turning them). It didn't seem to make any difference when I turned them. Do they have to be installed for them to be adjusted?

I know that's a lot of questions, but I appreciate the info.

i used to have koni's on an accord i once had--they were set at about 3/4 turn (or 270 degrees to get technical ). i did have a shop put 'em on and set them for me tho. they were PLENTY stiff-car rode like a f*ckin' go cart around the turns, but still had some shock absorbtion to speak of. good thing that you have the potenza's and not our weenie michelins...neways, 3/4 is what i would recommend to start...have fun!!

Hey JZ, I have my rears set at about 3/4 stiff and the fronts at about 2/3 stiff

that is not rough enough to make the ride jarring, but it's the best setup for great cornering

All the adjustable konis I have ever seen have had 1-1/2 full turns of adjustment. From my experience I would not add more than 1/2 turn on new shocks. It is really too bad the rear seat must be removed for adjustment. On my old MR-2 I ran them 1/2 turn in until it was play time, then it took only 2 minutes to crank them to full hard.

JZ,
I have had my koni's installed for several months now. The adjustment range is close to two full turns. I run almost 1/2 turn in front and 1 full turn in the rear. This is in conjunction with comptech springs and sways and aftermarket tires/wheels. The fronts are easily adjustable by lifting the engine hood. The rears can be made accessible by modifying the included koni tool and drilling two small holes in your rear deck.

Thanks everyone.

One more question: how do you know when you've fully turned the shock to it's max/minimal settings? Does it just not turn anymore? As I said earlier when I turned them right out of the box (couldn't help but play) they would have turned in either direction infinately. Just wondering if they have to be installed/compressed before they can be adjusted. Thanks all.
