anyone from the US ever get a ticket while in Canada?

My band had a gig in Toronto last week, anyways, I got a speeding ticket on the way back to chicago. It was going 30km over the limit. I dont think I'll ever drive in Canada again, what if I dont pay this ticket? What's the worst that can happen? thanks

i'd pay it.

its not a big deal, but its better to be safe than sorry.

I doubt it will affect your insurance...but look into that...

If it does affect your insurance, I wouldn't pay it..

You'll be hunted down by Interpol.

I wouldn't pay it unless they gave reciprocity with your state. Of course, you shouldn't get stopped there until the statue of limitations expires.

I think you can call up the institution that you are suppose to pay the tickte to and say that you are a visitor, and I think they realize that there is no way in hell they can MAKE you pay, so you would be able to pay very minimal amount. Thats what happen to me when i was in the state, I got a ticket of 180USD in Oregon, some locals told me that i would end up only have to pay about 20 USD. I don't know how true this is, but anyways.

I don't think anything will happen to you if you don't pay, JUST make sure not to get another ticket in CANADA, otherwise they'll probably bring make you pay on the spot for both tickets as well as interest.

At least it's not too bad, they didn't ask you to pay on the spot, a friend of mine who is from Canada as well, had a speeding ticket in the state of New York and had was stopped, arrested, brought to court and asked to pay cash upfront for speeding.

It could have been worse, the rental we had (A suburban) apparently didnt match the License plates. The fuckin cop threatened to tow the truck. But I showed him the enterprise info, so he was somewhat lenient. They didnt get my insurance info, so I doubt I'll get screwed on that... Fuck it. I aint paying it!

If you committed a traffic violation with a rental car, chances are the car's plates / registration will be traced back to the rental car company and ultimately, Enterprise will come after you to indemnify them. That's how it would work around here...

Maybe you shouldn't pay. It's worth a shot to see if they come after you in the end...
