Anyone notice more road noise after CAI install??
Has anyone noticed more road noise from the front of the car after they had the AEM CAI installed. I am noticing some serious noise (almost if I didn't have a front windshield).
I am kind of wondering if the people who did my install (I knew I should have done it myself but I was too damned lazy, and I didn't have the tools to cut the intake and install the bypass valve) removed one too many parts from the front of the vehicle (after the install there were three parts that I could tell from my previous removal of the resonator, the resonator, the bottom and top airbox assembly attached to the stock intake tubing, and this other part that I can't figure out).
Anyways just wanted to ask beforehand, when I get home I will post some pics of the? mystery part

Scott,
you mean by skid plate, right underneath where the filter is on the CAI??? That would mean the entire wheel well also ... not good!

JSuppi...
I've been away for a while so perhaps you covered this previously...
but in the post regarding the Xephyr (sp?) CAI unit the lower 'splash' panel is removed for the install. Its about the size of a 'book' and held on by three fasteners (if I recall correctly). I don't recall seeing a statement as to whether it should be REINSTALLED or whether leaving it off is a 'feature' of the CAI system...or required for best performance.
This piece, made of plastic, installs 'flat' under each corner of the front bumper/cover. One removes it (usually) to get at those lovely road lamps we have all been saddled with.
You didn't describe the sound so I'd probably see if the noise is there with the hood up? down? at speed only? Is the piece left 'off' part of the battery box perhaps?
If the kit came with legit instructions AND you still have them, they might shed some light on 'proper' installation questions.

Refer to the last few words of my Installation FAQ
The final steps:
1)
Position the splash guard back into its original position.
BE SURE TO CORRECTLY ALIGN AND INSERT ALL CLIPS AND BOLT!!
Failure to do so may cause the entire splashguard and wheel-well cover to dislodge during operation!!

Again definetly verified that I had the skid plate re-installed. I am going to post some pics and will upload it later tonight.

I don't know if that would count as a skid plate, doesn't look like it would protect much of anything (like your typical truck titanium underbody skid plate).
