that's not just ANY torq bit

It's a t25 tamper proof bit. make sure u get that one or u'll be like me and a pair of pliers getting that screw off!

If u look inside the helms, u'll see it's not a standard torq bit as inside the well, there's a small nipple... hehe

They are installed & they are amazing.
They really do make the stock HID's look yellow.
I bought them from Ebay
I would post pictures, but my camera takes really shitty pictures at night. You'll just have to take my word for it.

BTW: They are D2R not D2S

The tool was so I could get the weatherproof cover off. You can't access the bulb without removing the weatherproof cover.

I dont think 8000k means you will get a higher light output, you will just get a differnet color to it. More purple i think.

Dude, I think you got ripped off man. I got my 6k Osram bulbs from a guy who owns a shop in Taiwan for $240 shipped overnight! He was real cool to deal with. Also the guy on ebay was lying to you...those aren't Philips bulb...they are Osram. My bulbs say Xenstar on them. That is Osram's model for the 6k, don't believe me, give me your email and I will send you what the guy in Taiwan sent me about it. The Philips bulb say Philips on them. As far as pic...check my sig.

That tool is necessary because the HID bulbs are protected from water by a plastic casing that is held in by this star like screw.

Hard to say, but when I first turn on my lights...VERY noticeable purple, then it becomes blue and finally white with a hint of blue in it. 8000k is pure blue I believe.

Just bulbs are sent from Taiwan doesn't necessarily mean they are cheap. The guy who I got it from was a dealer for Osram. He sells Philips too.

Well here's the lowdown, I know a guy who we can get HID bulbs for cheap from. I was introduced to him by Paul Lee (Songoku over at the Acura-TL.com board) and have found him to be especially friendly and quick to answer questions unlike autolamps-online.com who took forever to answer my question and was unable to answer in a satisfacorty manner also. I bought the Osram 6000k bulbs from him after various emails about pricing, shipping, and quality. Originally I was interested only in the Philips 6000k bulbs because I heard it was a pretty reputable company. Well after finding out the price difference, I basically decided to take the risk and go with Osram since they are our stock bulbs and ballast. Here is the price run down...$260 shipped for Philips 6k bulbs if paid by money order. If you pay by paypal, then the total is $268. The Osram cost $240 shipped. All the prices reflect overnight shipping by Airbourne Express. I received my bulbs in less than a day and a half. Packaged very well. Also note that these bulbs are shipped in just simple boxes, nothing special like the Philip bulbs. When I first took them out, I noticed they did not say Osram but said Xenstar. I emailed the guy immediately. The next day I receieved five total emails from him. Each with a response as to why they do not say Osram. On the last two were direct links to Osram's website where they mention that the Xenstar is there 6k bulb line. The installation went fine. The bulbs are freaking FANTASTIC! They are so cool and noticeable. I have pics if anyone is interested, but they do it no justice. So here's the thing, maybe if enough people are interested in purchasing these lights, we might be able to get a group buy going and possibly get the bulbs cheaper. Please note that on the 2003 CLs, the stock maker of the bulbs and ballast is NOT Osram, but Philips.

Pics

yup yup, hit it on the head, 8k will actually result in a loss of light out put,,,the 41/4300 ks from the factory actually illuminate the road more (in terms of length of light and effectiveness)...the 6k just are are a diff. color but do not light the road as much as say 4300ks do...I think the loss in lighting output in ~15%

most peeps get the 6k b/c they look so much more pimp vs. the 4300 K (like me lol)

Philips doesn't make the bulbs directly, they have them marketed by other companies and supply the companies w/the bulbs so the philips name doesn't appear on the bulbs. Osram is also a great company and they make OEM shit 4 a lot of cars...u really can't go wrong w/either one

Take it easy...
Maybe you did pay less, but the Osram's typically cost a little less money (not much less tho). I know the picture on Ebay shows the Osrams, but that's not what I got. I emailed him before I bought to make sure I was getting Phillips because I noticed the same thing as you...He said that the picture was of the Osrams, but that was not what I was getting. He said I was getting exactly what the description said "PHILLIPS". I trusted him because he had a lot of positive feedbacks. The bulbs I got "do not" say Xenstar on them & the Phillips logo is "clearly" printed along with "made in Germany" with the part number & everything. I matched the logo with my stocks & it is EXACTLY the same. If these are fakes then they are damn good ones
I will post a picture of the box they came in & a picture of my stocks (the logo is exactly the same on the 6000k). Sorry I can't post a picture of the 6000k bulbs because I don't feel like taking them back out of my car just to prove it to you. I hope you can understand. Thanks for your concern tho, I appreciate you looking out

Here's one I took today. It has been raining all day & a bit overcast. You might not get a really good look at them, but it's better than nothing. I thought I would get a better picture, but I guess I'll just have to wait until it gets dark outside. Anyway, enjoy this for now.

So pretty much nothing above 6000K is worth it.

Has anyone tried to get the color flicker like the Bimmers and Audis? I often see motorcycles with the same property.

Has anyone seen/known of anyone to put HIDS in their high beams? I heard a guy on supraforums did it but never heard more about it...I would love to see it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like on the plastic part of the bulb (forgot what it's called), it says DOT. From what I recall no bulbs over 4300k is DOT approved. Nice pics...can't wait until it gets dark. What color are they when you first start them up?

You are not wrong. Those are the stock bulbs. I just wanted to show you that the 6000k bulbs have everything the stocks do (except for the DOT approved). Man, nothing gets by you. They are a deep purple-blue when you first start them up. After they warm up they get a little whiter, but still has the purple-blue color. It's getting dark now, I will post better pics soon.

Remember what I wrote in my last post?
