anyone know what SRS code 15-3 is?
i took it to the dealer and they said the SRS light was set off from the passenger seat due to electronic devices (cell phone, mp3 player) that may have been on the seat. i had that problem last month and all they did was clear the code to see if it would come back on.... so last week it came back on. i doubt it had anything to do with my cell or mp3. they're quoting me $800 for the fix. someone w/ helms manual please help with codes. thanks.

That excuse is probably bullshit. The electronic signals coming from these devices would be within the normal range of frequencies that auto engineers test for. Additionally the strength of the signal would not be enough to set anything off much less an airbag sensor.

I looked a little further into your question and there may be a technical service bulletin (tsb) regarding faulty srs sensors. That info should help you in getting the item taken care of (assuming you are going to a reputable Acura dealership)
Good luck!

The excuse is NOT bullshit. 15-3 is an OPDS sensor failure. It can be set off for constantly having something small on ur passenger front seat like a pocket book or cd book. Like 10-20lbs or so. OR it can also be set off by small electronic devices being placed on the seat like a cell phone or laptop etc....AND it can just be faulty. If they cleared the code and it came back on within a week and you had NOTHING on ur seat except for other passengers then chances are it is a faulty sensor. Now this sensor isn't like a small temp sensor or anything...it comes permanently attached to a new upper cusion. So you will be getting a new R/F upper seat foam w/ the sensor built into it which means the entire seat must be disasembled except for the tracks. Leather must be removed and then all re-installed w/ new foam backing so if ur seat now is starting to lose its shape from being sat on then that seat will look new except for the leather (top half only of course). Also...alot of times when dealers replace the sensor...they also replace the OPDS unit. They kinda go hand-in-hand together and you will end up saving urself double the labor cost in the future. Good luck and if you would like, try another dealer before u make ur choice.

Tsbs
If his car is out of warranty then they could have 20 TSB's for srs sensors and they still won't cover it. TSB's are just memos for techs on what to do to fix common problems. However if his car is under warranty and they are saying that they won't fix it because of the cell phone excuse...then raise hell and shit because if it's under warranty then it should be fixed....PERIOD!! ![Big Grin](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Where would I check for a tsb since I recently got my takara airbag replaced due to recall...
