anyone know about tint?
I am going to get my girlfriends car tinted for her, but its been a while since I did aftermarket tint. Can anyone tell me what to get? It needs to be dark, but not so dark that it is impossible to back up. Is 35% too light? And what is limo tint, is that reflective? Would that look good on a dark green 2001 Jetta?

I have my side windows tinted 35% and it is a little dark for my tastes. I think the 35% would look perfect in the rear, oh well... too late now.

DC Cruiser
I have my sides tinted 20%, and my rear 35%. I tinted the rear lighter so that the PoPo can see in if I get pulled over. In DC all tint is illegal, and by the books in theory, all factory tint is illegal aswell. DC sucks, and has the most stupid tinting laws!!!

35% is pretty light, but a good tint if you do not want to be hassled by the police. 20% is darker, without loosing complete visibility out the back of the car. Limo tint is 5%--VERY dark, but can be gotten used to after a while. I personally love 5% and have had it on all of my cars for the last 12 years.
So for your needs, either 35% or 20% would be good.

yea i have regular 20% all around and it looks pretty good i think... havent gotten any shit from cops either in TX. imo 35% is too light. 5% aka limo looks really cool but its just harder to see out of especially at night. might wanna check your laws tho so you dont stick out like a sore thumb for cops

I have 35% SIDES and 20% REAR.
Cops are more likely to look into the SIDE of the car then the REAR.
If it looks too dark they will pull you over.
And the darker rear window is great when you have a big SUV behind you at night with his brights shining through the glass.
Anywhere that tint is illegal I wouldn’t go darker then 35% on the side windows.
Sure others will say that this is too light, but where are they gonna be when you’re getting a ticket.

I have 30% all around and I think it's about the best all around. Not too dark and not too light.

35% is more then legal in FL. FL limit is 28%. I have 15% & it's nice & dark the way I like it. 35% seems to be the best %. Most shops do that the most, & most cars have it. I'd stay away from the reflective tint. Wouldn't look good on a green car. The regular smoke color should be fine. The best brands are Llumar, & 3M. Limo tint is 5% or less.

i don't think the popo really care about tint..unless they pull you over for something outrageous like going 30 over, then they might harass you about it..i guess it really depends on where you live (states like nv, az, fl should have no problem cause they understand it's hotter than a mofo)...
35% comes standard on most cars straight from the dealership (factory installed option), so most tinted cars you see on the road are 35%..i think it's too light imo..my gf is also getting her black si tinted soon, she's going limo..btw limo is 5%, not reflective..on a dark green car i would go 15% all around..might have a little trouble seeing at night, but it will look awesome if she's really worried about that then go to the next lighter level..20% or 28%, whatever your local tint shop has available...
regardless of what percentage you choose, be sure to have the same all around, cause imo different shades look funny..hope this helps
