anyone help me with ticket incident?
PLEASE help me with ticket incident
first off, FUCK COPS. Tonight, I went home to pick up a bunch of computer parts. I came back to school to drop them off, and I parked next to a yellow curb temporarily, so I could take all the heavy shit upstairs. Not that it matters, but I've seen many people do this without any problem. In all honesty, I'm not trying to just protect myself, but I came out within 5 minutes of parking the car, and I had already gotten a ticket. So soon in fact, that I still saw the officer that wrote it, giving a different car a parking ticket close by. So I drove up to him, got out of my car, and asked him why I got the ticket. I told him I was there for literally 3 minutes, only because I had heavy things to carry. He went on to basically call me a liar. He said that he "touched the hood of my car and also tires", and said that they were cold. (btw, it's raining like crazy) So, I tell him I was being honest or whatever and he says I'm lying basically. So I say, I can't argue with him because it's his word against mine. So I walk away, get into my car and drive off. He then pulls me over, saying I was "speeding excessively", and that my car "slid". (the spot that i pulled out of goes directly into the road which you must make a left turn on). I asked him how fast he estimated I was going. He stated that I was going about 30mph. I traveled approximately 100-150ft. max. I don't remember how fast I was going, but I highly doubt I was going that fast. Also, the part where he said I "slid", is COMPLETE bullshit. I started to argue for a second, and then figured that it's a complete waste of my energy. So, I kept my mouth shut and agreed with him, called him "sir", blah blah... fuckin bullshit. BTW, he didn't catch me with his gun. He wrote me a citation for failure to produce driver's license, cause I left it upstairs while I went out to park my car. He told me I was "driving almost negligently", and that just because I got a parking ticket doesn't mean I should fly out of there like that. Anyways, I have a ticket for "violation of posted signs", for the parking (I didn't see the sign, but I'm about to go take a look); and a citation for "failure to disaply license on demand". Normally, I would just try to appeal the parking ticket, because I'll admit when I'm wrong. I guess I'm wrong for parking on the yellow but wtf he said he touched my hood/tires saying I was inside for at LEAST 15 minutes?!?! I also had a friend in the car that helped me carry things up, who left when we came outside. I asked him to be a witness if things should get that far.
If anybody, can give me any advice on the situation, I'd REALLY appreciate it. I'm in a fuckin shithole right now with this. You have to understand this pig was a complete cocklicker.
Any lawyers, law prospects here who can shed some light on the situation?
I'm thinking I'm fucked cause it's the pig's word against mine. What a beautiful world we live in, where one man's word is worth more than the next in every situation.

I don't have to be a lawyer to give you this advice:
Next time you get a simple parking [cheap] parking ticket for illegally parking where you might have misjudged the time by 10 minutes, instead of challenging the cop, pay the ticket instead, learn the lesson, and try your luck next time.
Haven't you parked illegally and gotten away with it before?
Have you hear of you win some you lose some?
Don't you know that some cops don't respond so well to confrontations?
Didn't you realize that if you don't have any ID, even in America, that you should avoid meeting up with the police to discuss crime and other violations?
Did you know that a cop has a lot of discretion when it comes to writing minor violations, hence all the silly little stuff he came up with?
I'm not trying to be an a-hole, but you drive a new CL and the parking ticket couldn't have been more than about $25 or $35. And you weren't in a handicap zone, right? You should have just mailed in a check like I would have done....or like most people just throw it in the garbage can.
My 2 cents.

so your rhetorical question bring up what point to me? and to "meeting up", he didn't pull me over cause i met him up, he pulled me over because he thought i was speeding. and if i were to throw the ticket in a garbage can, then?
Most states/counties/cities don't issue a warrant for unpaid parking tickets unless you have like 5-7 unpaid ones. I have 4 pending, only because Michigan State's parking situation sucks ass, but whatever.
He pulled you over because you challenged him. You probably ticked him off by questioning his authority and cops don't look too kindly on that.
Here's my advice (no legal responsibilities).
Pay the parking ticket.
Find out how many points the ticket is. If it's zero points, then just pay it and forget about it. Chalk it up to a shitty day and bad luck.
If it does give you points on your license, then ask for an informal hearing. You'll get a notice in the mail. Show up on the hearing date, and you will get to talk to the District Attorney or the cop before you go in front of the judge/magistrate. Just apologize for being rude. Tell him you're sorry that you questioned his judgement, and that you were having a bad day. Suck up to him, but don't patronize him. Trust me. It goes a long way. If your record is clean, or relatively clean, you will get a break. You will probably end up just paying a court fee with no points.

I dunno about where you live but throwing the ticket away in Canada is a dumb move. It *will* go to court, costs will be awarded and penalties applied, so a $25 ticket becones $50 or $60 - then next time you have to renew your tags the dept. of transport checks their computer for all unpaid tickets and you have to pay on the spot or no tags for you!!
if you are having this much drama with a parking ticket then i hope you never get a moving violation!!!!
Bottom line you parked illegally AND I DO IT ALL THE TIME. sometimes i win and some times i lose but i pay for mistakes everytime i do it. recently ive been pretty good and park at designated areas.
parking tickets are no biggies. Whats worse is if they tow your car away or you get a boot now that is a freakin headache!
just pay the fine and forget it!

I had 2 pending tickets on my old car, and my dad (it was under his name) got the new tags for it just fine. Same with the Eclipse, one pending ticket, and got new tags.

I agree with Ken.
My opinion of this is that we’re only hearing one side of the story and of course it’s gonna sway in YOUR favor.
If you really had all this heavy shit to take out of your car it probably took more then the 5 minutes you said.
And judging by the tone of your post, you have a short fuse and a quick to agitate TEMPER.
After your little “talk” with the cop you probably ripped out of there in a fuss and that’s why he immediately pulled you over.
Illegal parking, no ID, speeding, arguing with the cop.
Calm down, suck it up. Pay your DUE.

If you gave the cop the same attitude you seem to have from this post, your lucky he didn't baton your ass. Suck it up and pay the ticket.
If indeed your friend will swear in court that you were only parked there for three to five minutes (enough time to take some "heavy computer equipment upstairs, in the rain") then make that argument to a judge. Nothing says the cop wasn't having a bad night and could have been wrong. As he didn't give you a speeding or reckless driving ticket he obviously wasn't being a complete jerk about things. You might want to tone down your language a bit here; there are probably some Cops on this board. YMMV
I'm a lawyer and you screwed up-pay and next time don't argue with the police b/c you will ALWAYS lose. BTW-wasn't the cop in "Me, Myself & Irene" from Maryland ????????? Dual personality time

Why didn'y you put your hazards on for the three minute period you were in the building??? That usually is a sign to tell people, you'll be right back. While that may not have saved you, it's a sign to law enforcement that this is only going to be very temporary.
BTW - 8000 posts!!!

well, if i were you i wouldn't pay that parking ticket. if you have lots of unpaid tickets, you should, but you shouldn't worry if you have 2 or 3 pending.
well, good luck if you are going to the court. i'm going to court this monday(gotta speeding ticket)

I almost ROFL when I read the first post.
You took a simple parking ticket and potentially turned it into a moving violation. To quote Nelson, "Ha Ha!"
