anyone have a yakima rack?
i just bought a yakima roof rack for my cl-s and the instructions and attachments are originally for the 98 accord. obviously, the dimensions on the accord are different on the rear tower. what should i do?

I have a Yakima.
These are the dimensions that I was given from
Rack Attack where I purchased mine.
Distance between the two front towers 40 5/8"
Distance between the two rear towers 40 3/4"
Distance between the front and rear bars center to center 16"
Distance that your front bar is from the top of the windshield 5"
These numbers work fine for me, nice tight fit.

How much did you pay for your racks and what is the model number?
I'm looking to get one for carrying my mountain bike, kayak and camping equipment.
Anyone have any other brands of racks that work well on our car? (Price and models would be appreciated).
Thanks,
BTS

Bullet,
Thule makes really good racks too. Not sure prices or models, but I think they have a website with some of that info!!

Junior,
Thanks for the reminder. I almost forgot about Thule.
I figure i'll wait for some reviews from all the forum folks on what works best and looks best, then search the net for a good price.
I'm hoping to stay under $400 for a rack w/ bike and kayak applications.

I've got a Yakima rack with bike and ski attachments. I can highly recommend it. It's very easy to install and easy to switch to a new vehicle, should you get one. I got everything for about $400. I had it on my '98 Altima and when I got the CL-S I just had to spend $20 for new clips.

I have a yakima that I used on my 94 integra. The basic parts for the Yakimas are, for the most part, universal. The "clips" that fit into the door jamms / roof gutters are make and model specific. I have not tried to mount my rack on my cls.
If you think your has wind noise now, see how loud it gets with the rack mounted.
I paid about 400 bucks for mine about 5 years ago. It looks quite nice collecting dust in my attic.

oops...almost forgot about the wind noise part. especially on our cars because it's a sin to drive it under 80mph. this will be a good time to crank up the cd player. by the way, the clip model number for our cars is #92.

how does the rack install?? do you have to drill?
Or does it just hook to where the doors close?
I am interested in getting one but refuse to drill into my roof.......
------------------
01' CL Type-S, Navigation, Spoiler
4% tint on the backs and 34% on the fronts
Eibach Pro-Kit Springs (2" Drop)

no drilling whatsoever. the rack does nothing to damage the car. by the way, the rack is pretty easy to install. if you do decide to get a yakima, i'll guide you through the steps.

you can, but you need to buy the yakima stretch kit in addition to the q tower rack mounts due to our short roof line. check out their website www.yakima.com
