Anyone else missing fuse & bulb for reverse/brake light - Jens/Wayne?

Ok, so today I finally decided to replace the stock bulbs with the polarg's I bought. I replace the road lamps, the domes, the maps, the doors, then i get into the trunk to replace the reverse .. and the first one I go for (absent mindedly not thinking about the reverse tail lights - x'd out in the pic below) is the brake light in the rear windshield pointed at in the picture below

And I was surprised to see that it is empty .. there is a holder, but no fuse connected to it, and no bulb at the other end? There isnt even a spare fuse that I could plug into it if I wanted to .. and use my own bulb. Anybody else see this? Is this normal?

This is just a guess and I have not looked but in some markets they may, in the future put fogs on the car and sometimes (In Europe mainly) they have a rear fog light. It is a brighter running light and there is only one. Audi, BMW, Volvo, Mercedes, etc have it. This is just a guess though. If everything works back there, I wouldn't worry about it.

Actually .. I think I musta messed sumthin up cuz this mornin on my way to work, on my guage there was a "Brake Lamp" indicator on. But I cant think what I coulda done .. I looked inside the trunk for the housing, pulled it out .. and there was nothing connected to it, no bulb, no fuse. so i put it back where it came from.

well so i wedged my ice scraper between my seat and the brake pedal, and stepped out to see what lights were on .. and it looked fine except the rear dash brake light. the two tail brake lights were on, and the spoiler brake light was on ..

any suggestions/ideas?

I beleive that when a spoiler is installed (that has a brake light in it) the brake light in the rear deck is disconnected?

ok i fixed the brake lamp light .. I took some black paint and painted over it. so thats not a problem anymore .. but how about the rear dash light .. empeters, I think you might be right about the rear dash when a spoiler is in place, can anyone verify this?

ps - I was kidding about the black paint!! I checked all my connections in the back and there was a loose one that i fixed and the light went off

In most states it is illegal to have both the third brake light and a spoiler mounted brake light operational at the same time (besides it looks tacky)so dealers will remove the unneeded bulb.In many countries it is required equipment to have a rear fog lamp.In the USA it is not however since the cars are being built here but exported they will build the car to a specific standard and then just leave out the parts not required in a specific country.Jens
