Anyone else have surpsises at 60k service?
I finally took my car in for its 60k service. Its bad enought that the service package is $300.00 but the car needed (in addition):
-rear pads
-machining of the rear rotors
-replacement of clogged AC filter
-recommended removal of extreme carbon build up
-replacement of cracked front 'driving light'
I trust the place where I take my car and it was driving kinda sluggish when I took it in (and it performs much better now) but I was not expecting a list of pricey things like this.
If I had the dealer do all of this the price would be over $1,000.00 (total with 60K service) is this an anomaly or a sign of things to come with future maintenance--as the car ages?
Just curious thanks!

That sucks...
The cars are pretty reliable as they age... I'm at 70k, and the car is still doing good... Most of my problems I had from the car before I bought it.
Sorry to hear that, but once you're done fixing those things next thing to change should be the waterpump/timing belt.

Anything recommended by the dealer is just to make money. Run a can of Gumout fuel injection cleaner though the system. 1 can in a full tank of gas. The carbon should be taken care of. The AC filter you can do yourself, as well as buying, & replaceing the cracked road lamp.

I actually asked Valencia Acura to do fuel filter and FI cleaner at 45k and they said I didnt need it! How about that, they turned down my money! I do get the trans fkuid done every 10k though but its cheap.

I guess by your name you work for them. Didn't mean to offend you. You can still take some carb cleaner & clean out the egr tube, as well as the TB.

No kidding prices for 60K service I just had done , ranged anywhere from 300 to 500 dollars. It is crazy . I ended up going to the 300 dollar one since they are a kick butt dealer anyway , and told them to skip the tranny flush ( since they just put a new tranny in 4 K miles ago ) and oil change ( do those myself. ) . Got out of there paying $175, which was great. They didnt find anything else wrong . But you never know every car is different. I mean the cracked driving lights are like $75 a piece plus labor . So go figure . I have a small crack in mine, but not worth replacing in my opinion.

I'm about 3k from 60,000. Course, i need to schedule an appointment to get my struts replaced (grr... damn mom driving my car), and i might just wait until the 60k to do that.
