Total cost for everything was around $1200!!! That included me buying a spare set of housings so I would not be w/o headlights. Unfortunately, I melted the left housing when removing the chrome housing from my spare set to paint black. Yeah, I got raped! HIDTech's labor fees were outrageous, but I wanted to be the first to do it, so there you have it.

Yeah, labor is ridiculous. I know of some Honda accord guys in the DC area whom retrofitted their own cars with HID projectors.

what up Blitz? I thought I'd hit up the boards cause I knew it would be a great resource for looking for some OEM headlights.

What's happenin? I haven't heard from a lot of DC legends like Greyjhu, Derelict, Steve, evilone, etc...

Tell me if this is possible...

Could i wire up my high beams to a switch i have in my car, that was used for my fog lamps (which i removed). And just have the high beams on alone, using them as a DRL??

I used to run that on my integra and it looked awesome, in fact I used to get many compliments about it. I had found a special yellow paint that's no longer available and painted the two inner lights and ran those when I drove.

I haven't done the same on my CL as much as I've wanted to do it. I have 9005 yellow bulbs in my highbeams that I've received compliments about too in fact, CLPower whose seen my car with them running gave me the about it.

Don't know why you think that's the stupidest thing you've read. It's still a good reason to do it, and it's a functional purpose and looks good. Doesn't sound bad to me.

1. I don't like blinding other drivers with my highbeams. Especially for no apparent reason other than "it looks good"
2. I expect the same from others.

Err.. the yellow 9005 high beam bulbs are no more blinding than your OEM HID headlights

the high beam portion of the headlight housing is angled higher than the HID low beam hence why it can blind people.

The lowbeam would be just as bad if they were angled the amount the high beams are.

if done correctly by using the correct DRL parts then they would not be blinding.

With the amount of space available in the CL headlights the following bi-xenons can be retroed.

E55 (Found in MB E, ML, Nissan Maxima, BMW 5, 7 series, X5 etc)

Porsche Bi-xenon, not the crappy bosch kind but the good kind made by Stanley/kioto found in the Porsche Cayanne. Also found in Nissan Murano, 06-07 350Z.

FX35, Infiniti G35 bixnons. Great projectors due to their compact size and better than average low beam.

RS6 Bi-xenons, found in some audis namely so RS6. Its almost identical to the E55 projector but has a chrome finished reflector bowl and different variation of the solenoid and also can be modified to produce the foreground wolverine spikes.

Bosch E46 Bi-xenons, one of the earliest bi-xenon units found in the E46 BMW, MB S class. Very small units, output isnt as good as some of the stanley units and wiring is complicated.

RX330 Bi-xenons, although named after the RX they are not in the RX, they are found in the LR3 Disco and i believe the new SC430.

The above units can easily be retroed in the CL headlights. The best bi-xenon on the market is found in non other but in our 3G TL. Its huge in size but has a great low beam and awesome high beam. It can also be found in the JDM Odyssey but that version has AFS. TL projectors unfortunately can not be retoed in the CL headlight unless some modifications are done to the housing.

As far as low beams are considered. The best ones, output-wise, are made by japanese company Stanley/Kioto. They make projectors such as the ones found in S2000, TSX, SC430, RX330. The best low beam projector on the market is LS 430 due to its ability to use the unused light in the bottom part of the reflector bowl through its reflector bowl towards the lower part of the projector. Then you have the S2000 projector, best and rarest one on the market and can set you back as much as $350~$400.

here are some reference pictures.

LS 430 projector (i have taken the lenses off)

E55 Projectors

S2000 Projectors

TSX projector

Porsche Bi-xenon

hope this info helps.

kyle:

are you running 9005 bulbs? are they running at max wattage as if the high beams are on, or do you have a DRL inverter to run them at low power?

No they are 168 bulbs. I chopped up an old 9005 and used my 01 road lamp ballast to fit into the modified 9005. The wires are ran to a switch inside of the car. So i can have the DRL's on alone. There pretty cool looking, from far away it looks like the halo lights you see on the BMW's
