The computer is quirky and this is normal, hah as strange as that may sound! Basically at 75mph, there's a 50/50 shot the computer will even let you into 2nd gear, for me its almost none. But at 75, you really shouldn't be in 2nd anyhow, 3rd is best at that speed.

shouldn't you be hitting the rev limiter at 75?

there was a post before that if you let off the gas and go for 2nd, it'll shift thinking that you are torque braking...either that or floor it and shift, i don't remember.

Max speed for 2nd is 70-73, so if you are doing 75 no way you can downshift into 2nd. at 75, 3rd will pull you hard to 110!

does your dad know what you are doing to his baby? of course not, is the car broken in properly or are you just abusing it. beware street racing as it is dangerous for the inexperienced, which you certainly seem to be

Yeah, I wouldn't try to shift into 2nd at that speed. With the horror stories about our trannies I wouldn't do that to your dad's car. Just hit 3rd and you should have enough power. If you need more power, get an M3.

When in SS mode, it is sometimes necessary to let off the gas for a second to allow the car to drop into a lower gear. As long as you are not above the allowable speed for a particular gear, it will downshift after letting after the gas briefly. This appears to be a safety measure built into the transmission to prevent downshifting at certain speeds under hard acceleration.

Dude...remember the break-in period. You will fuck this car up if you beat it like this when it's new...not a cool move to bone your Dad like that, wait for yours to come in so you can deal with the warped brake rotors and torn up tranny.

It's weird ... at 75mph 3rd gear would pull like crazy ... the thing is auto or manual, you have to know the car to drive it to its max potential w/o hurting it ... you have to thanks the computer for not letting you drop it in 2nd ... if it did, man ... your dad would be really pissed off. BTW, when you get your own car, if you wanna drop it in 2nd travelling 75mph, I suggest you pull it out of SS and pull the shifter all the way down where it's labelled "2". Good luck.

If you want a race car with race-car-like shifting capabilities, buy a race car. The way SS works, it satisfied 95% of the SS drivers. Who the hell wants to downshift into 2nd at 75mph anyway? So what if it can't....

My 2 cents.
