Anybody mastered sliding with the foot brake?
Anybody mastered sliding with the foot brake?
A little background... this is the first car I've ever owned that wasn't a stick... and I sure do miss my handbrake.
I used to love inducing slides with the handbrake... around corners, sliding into parking spots and doing 180's.
But I just can't get used to this damn foot brake. I can't seem to get the coordination down to disengage the damn thing at the right time to control the skid or make the whole thing smooth.
Anybody have any insight into some kind of technique to this?
(and please leave the 'get a 6-speed' comments at home!
)

Not a get the 6-speed comment...get an Integra.
I'm kinda glad the CL won't do this easily...keeps the car from getting that bad image and attracting the wrong crowd.
I remember when the Integra was cream of the crop, when I drove one in 1990. Now you wouldn't catch me dead in one of those.

I thought I had grown out of the sliding around thing too... but just today, as it drizzled and I pulled into an empty parking lot, I had an uncontrollable urge.
I hate uncontrollable urges.
I hate uncontrollable urges.
I get that urge too sometimes when it snows are when there is ice because it was easier to do a 180 or 360. And it was fun to blow into an intersection in a complete hook slide; sideways, wheels spinning, everybody who was stopped was gasping....
...oh wait, that was over 10 years ago when I lived in Minnesota and was in my 20s.

Could not wait to drive and do the handbrake turn after watching Broderick Crawford doing it with his mid fifties oldsmobuick on his highway patrol tv show. Never could convince my dad to do it in our 49 Stupidbaker.
U mean boot-leg turns in the CL/TL. Its easy for me. It took me about 5 tries and I got the hang of it. Before depressing the
E-brake and doin gur turn u first need to double pump the
e-brake. All that needs for me to do so is get a twitch in my ankle. Once doign so u need to wip the car in teh direction that u want to turn, then go to the other direction, and then back. On the finial turn to the direction that u want to skid, thats where u depress teh e-brake and do ur skid. Its a great thing to learn when u go down a dead end and its only a 2 lane road.
If u want MP JHEIII850Turbo and ask him how it looks.

i know how to do a "reverse 180"
#1 make sure you got a pretty long stright area you can try this with
#2. make sure no one else is on the road
#3. floor it back wards
#4. throw your wheels hard to right or left
#5. hang on:P
man speaking of rentals There is no way in hell I'd buy a old rental. one I went with my friend to Vegas and we rented a Monte Carlo(it was cheap and plus it got us around) man we not only ran the piss out of it plus we hoped like 8 or 10 curbs.(i thought once for sure we bent a rim but thank god we didn't) but that poor Chevy went through hell

Problem with rentals these days is they are starting to charge people for repairs. Remember that pre-inspection contract you signed that said the car was rec'd in good shape and any damage you do to the car you agree to pay for?
