Anybody Brembos???
Anybody Brembos???
I ordered Brembos for my CLS and was wondering if I should get new wheels to accomodate tem. Brembo told me that the 17's should be fine. They're on back order, so I got plenty of time to figure this out.

I agree with Soopa, I wouldn't chance it. Comptech says that if you go with the Brembos you should get some new rims. I don't know if mike still checksup here, but he'll probably be able to confirm.

The problem with the Brembo's (in general) is with the width (and spoke offset) of a wheel. They fit perfectly on the SSR Competition 17x8" +48 offset wheels. (Ask Kevin M – has runs them with the SSRs). So, they DO NOT REQUIRE 18" wheels to fit!
The Brembos need a lot of room in the "width" department, and the stock wheels don't have enough spoke clearance.
As a note -- Tire Rack bragged about their ability to work with Brembo and a "wheel" shopper to insure that a given wheel would work with a particular Brembo. TireRack made this claim in an older issue of Sport Compact Car that I HAD (it was a 2001 issue). BTW -- I'm just repeating what I read, who knows if they actually have the data they claim to have...

I think, that the stock wheels will fit over the circumference of the brembo's but it's the caliper width that presents a problem...
you could most likely get a set of 5mm spacers made by H&R and your stock wheels will fit over the brakes

Have you noticed how thick the casting is on the outside of those rims -- oink, oink
