Anybody add a motion sensor to stock alarm?
Can this be done? I know people have added shock sensors... do motion sensors work the same way?
I have a Alpine motion sensor from an old alarm I had... just curious if I could hook it up.

So you're implying I can add a motion (radar) sensor the same way the shock sensor is installed?
I was just trying to find out if they work the same way or what...

Eww. i guess I miss read your post... I dunno if anyone has done this or not... but this might be something to try... I would imagine it works the same way.. i would be interested in where you would mount the motion sensors...Sorry

No sweat.
It was under the center console in my other car... I'm thinking it isn't gonna work. It used to do things like flash the parking lights if someone penetrated the 'outer zone' and only set off the alarm if the interior zone was compromised. Do see how that would work with our stock alarm.

there is a "motion" sensor and "proximity" sensor, 2 different things.
I had a motion sensor installed instead of a shock sensor. It senses when the car moves (like being towed, or someone jumping up and down on it causing it to go up and down).
It didn't work as well as a shock sensor, which actually detects "shocks" and impacts.
A proximity sensor I think would make the alarm go off all the time (someone walks by in a parking lot, a dog or cat strolls by, etc. etc.), and considering we don't have a pre-warn, that would get really old after 2 days. I don't htink anyone was able to get a pre-warn to work unless they changed out the whole system.

Retired. Not available.
mrdeeno,
You can make your own prewarn circuitry without changing the whole system. I gave randomwalk101 the base schematic and he had it (shock sensors added behind the headlights) done on his TL using a network of relay. However, it gets very complicated due to the conditions and possibilities (i.e. shock sensor warning should not go off when the car is on, during starting, closing the door with the engine off... ).
I think it makes much more sense getting an aftermarket alarm.

actually, i think it is pretty easy to make a prewarn (connect prewarn to horn or "beeper" thingy so that it beeps whenever it registers a shock, and connect the power line to a relay connected to the ignition to disconnect power to the sensor when the ignition is on).
But yeah, it does make a lot more sense just to get another alarm.
has anyone found one that lets you keep the remote as well as your memory seat function?
