any insights (engine suddenly cuts off running)

I just experienced this yesterday and I am sort of confused as to what coud b the cause. So i will appreciate any comments on previous experience.

Ok left alone I have had that our cars react differently in cold weather, (hard starts, erratic starts or not running smoothly)

But this really was the 1st. I put some gas in my car yesterday after driving in on E (light on ) for about 10 miles in cold weather, statred her up no problem and drove another 45miles on the highway headed to the car wash and Let the car run as i washed it and after abt 15mins into this the car just shut itself off.
I restart and it hesitates for a sec and starts right back up.
I drive it for 10 mins, finally get home and leave engine running to go open the door and before I got back engine turns itself OFF.

and I am begin to wonder what could cause this ?
No check engine light ON.

only thing i did yesterday was changed the wheels ( to a slightly smaller diameter) TSX wheel (slightly shorter height) and bought gas frm a Mobil gas station.
my mechanic once told me that my habit of NOT filling unless on E or driving with the reserve lights ON will kill my FUEL PUMP, but i dont know how true that if plus i hv done this for years .......

any Clues.... ?? (bad gas, clogged EKG, Cold weather) ???

only other issues prior to this .iz .. https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-cl-2001-2003-50/sign-tranny-failure-798915/

Try injector cleaner if you were running that low on gas it might suck all the dirt from a tank. How many miles ?

I'd try injector cleaner first then coilpack or spark plug. But if there is no CEL then i dont know.

When you washed your car did you open the hood and spray the engine bay? Do you have a CAI with the filter down in the bumper? Did you spray that area heavily?

Are you running the floor vent on your heater full blast on full heat? If so your fuel pump relay could be getting hot wich will cause a problem. In hi heat days the fuel pump relays are notorius for giving problems when hot. Mine did that and I had to let it cool off in the summer by opening the windows when the car was sitting. Small possibilty?

wow good point
YES i sprayed the CAI area where the filter is down in the bumper, i was running the heat too but i dont think it got that hot.
Thanks that was a very good diagnosis.

but i did not spray inside the engine bay yesterday though i have done that on numerous occasions with no issues at all.

I went through automated car wash with my CAi and left the engine running. When the power wash hit the lower front bumper area it stalled it. Then took several tries to re start. Had a terrible miss for a few seconds then cleared up. It stalled twice on the way home and again when i go there. Seem to clear up after that or at least i dont remember any problems the next day. This was about 2 years ago, so I'm fuzzy on the details. IIRC it cleared it self up.

So no more automated power washes for me.

the spark plugs should have been changed when you did the timing belt service.

I would not worry about changing coil packs unless they are not working. I've seen coild packs last over 300K miles and they still worked when the car was sold.

But the plugs would need a changing.

Anyways it sounds like you had the same thing I had with the car was. Post #7

not over heating and there is coolant in there though i need to probably flush the radiator coolant or replace the original stock radiator it has never bn changed. But this is still not a legitimate culprit.
