Another New CL Owner- Winston-Salem

Just took possession of a 2ndGen 2001 Black with Tan Interior. Two mistakes- 1) bought it from a Leasee, who re-directed me to Chase Financial, where I am still trying to get the paperwork for my NC tag!!! 2) Looked at the car at night, after the owner waxed it. Car is now in the paint shop for repair of acid rain damage from the power plants around Lake Norman. Hood and trunk are SHOT. I am too old to be fooled like this. On the bright side, it has a new trans, and only 47K miles, and has absolutely no mech problems.
Needs mud flaps and maybe a sunroof deflector. In the spring, I'll get serious about any speed mods. At age 59, my foot's not as heavy anymore.
Fun to read all the input here, and I suspect this will be one of my favorite machines ever.

Welcome and congrats on your buy. I also had an '01 CLS black w/ tan interior before I traded in for a 6MT. Glad to see I'm not the only old guy (51) here.

It's definitely a fun car, and you can easily get out of control with the mods... but they only add to the experience.

Welcome aboard

Tell me about it... I've been way out of control with the mods on my car. If I added up all the receipts, I wouldn't be surprised if I paid half again as much as I paid for the car originally. But it's been a fun run...

Thanks for the kind words.

BTW us000011, I'll be in your neck of the woods next year.... moving to Charlotte at the end of March.... so thanks for the heads-up about acid rain around Lake Norman

Welcome to the boards. Sorry to hear about your Chase issue. I also bought my car from a Leasee and he used Chase. I convinced him to not go through them and it was a BIG difference. $1600 vs. $80 at the GA DMV for my tags.

Thanks! I looked at a beautiful RSX type R, but it was not a grown-up type car. I loved the 6-speed, but couldn't find a reasonable CL with one. Past cars include an 87 Legend manual, a 92 Vigor, also black, and my wife still drives a 95 green Legend. She had an 87 red Prelude that was totaled (but I can't discuss it ever- she cries).
