Another dead transmission
I just barely made it home from work. Since literally the first day I bought my car in 11/00, the car would occasionlly jerk mildly as if it wasn't getting gas or popping out of gear for a fraction of a second. It wasn't very often so I didn't worry about it. Over the past month, it has gotten worse, but still not to the point of taking it in for service. I thought it may be transmission related after reading the posts for the past 6 months. Coming home tonight, it felt like the clutch kept slipping. I was barely going 30 mph. When I felt it one time, I floored it and the RPM's shoot up with no acceleration. Needless to say, by the time I covered the 1.6 miles coming home it was clunking and would barely climb the incline of my parking garage.
I have 21,000 miles and don't run it hard at all. I certainly hope the wait for a new transmission in Jacksonville, FL isn't too long.

I certainly hope that I can get my new transmission in a week. What kind of loaner did they give you? I'm heading out now to park my car outside of parking garage so they can tow it tomorrow morning. Hopefully, I can drift it far enough to get out of the garage.

I don't know why I'm so upset. I just moved it for the tow truck and I realized, reverse works just fine. I may have looked a little silly reversing down three levels of the parking garage, but it was a whole lot easier than pushing it.

Who did you work with at Duval Acura when you had your transmission placed? I called this morning and they acted like I was crazy when I told them I needed a new transmission. They told me they have not replaced any yet.

when mine went down, all gears where shot, except the 2nd gear. even the reverse was shot.
so I drove it to the dealer on the second gear all the way.

Does anyone know if Acura puts brand new transmissions for replacements or is it a rebuilt one? Do they send these broken trannies back to the factory and then rebuild/refurbish them so that they can be used again in another tranny replacement?

Mine just went out last month. I had 32K miles when it went out. What's funny is that I drive my 98 SS Prelude real hard and am in SS mode all the time, it has 50K miles and is still going strong. Sorry I can't say the same for my Type S.
