Another AEM CAI install
Another AEM CAI install
Since everybody posts a new thread when they install a new mod, I figured that would be the thing to do.
Yesterday I recieved my red cai from No Limit and got a couple of friends to help me install it.

It took about 2 to 2.5 hours, the only good part about that is I installed it at work, so I was getting paid to mod my car.
It wasn't as easy as I had hoped, I used chod's instructions but it was still tough. Although now that I've done it, and know what to do, it doesn't seem that hard. The hardest part was getting out the resonator, the 2 screws that hold it in are a pain to get at. But here's the final product...

I'm sure it was worth the money, but I actually wish it was louder. When you're cruising, you don't even notice it, you don't really hear it until you get around 3500 rpm and higher. A friend of mine got a CAI on his Eclipse and you could hear the deep growl just cruisin in a parking lot. Oh well, I'm still happy.

No-Limit wasn't bad. That's where I got my CAI from. Does your friend have a CAI or a shortram, generally shortrams sound louder because of their filter location. Wait for a couple of weeks and it will start sounding louder to you. I guess the ECU needs to adjust. Did you reset your ECU and WOT it for like 30mins or so?

I did disconnect the battery, that's all I had to do to reset the ECU right? And yeah, at almost every opportunity I've been WOT.
was shipping overnight like they said it would be?
It would have been but they didn't have the red when I ordered it. I got a call the next morning telling me this, they offered the gray one but I really wanted red. So I had to wait till they got a new shippment in.
HOW DO YA LIKE IT!!!!!!!!!?????????
So far, so good. It's definately louder than stock, it's got a nice powerful growl now. But like I said, I wouldn't mind it being a little louder.

I see that the by-pass valve is touching the fender, aren't you afraid that it might get wet when it rains....

It's gonna get wet when it rains anyway because if water does enter then it's gonna stop it there...the important thing is did it do what it's supposed to do.

I thought that the by-pass worked only if the filter was totally submerged in water not allowing air to enter.....and then the air would come through the valve. I have the AEM and I am sure that after I got a car wash and I felt the valve it was wet. Check it out and see if its true. I was even considering cutting a little bit off about 1/4 to 1/2 inch where it goes into the throttle body, but I'm selling it instead and getting the Comptech ice-box when it comes out.

is the pipe butted up to the throttle body all the way? if so, leave it alone, it will be fine.

.I installed it just the way the instructions said to, I don't what I would have done that would have affected the VSA.

i've raced CL-S's with this on the track and lose every time...sucks watching them creap up and slowly edge past u by the time u hit the 1/4 mark
This apex powerstack seems interesting...what makes it work better than the standard AEM filter? Is it bigger? Does it's design allow more airflow? Any dangers of running it everyday driving? How much louder are we talking?

I did a search and found A'pexi's site here. I'm pretty sure this is the filter your talking about Scooter. But on the application page they don't have one for the CL-S, so I assume it would be the Universal replacement filter at the bottom of the list. The only problem is that it's $88 just for the filter!
Anyone know of somewhere to get them cheaper?
Thanks-
