am thinking of buying 01 cl type s

I currently have an 03 Ford Expediton Eddie Bauer fully loaded. I love it and will always need a full size truck or SUV. I have been considering getting a second car (and car payment) as a daily driver. One of my friends is the sales manager at a local Chevy dealer. He has an 01 Cl type S, 50800 miles with navigation. It is white in great conditon. He is giving to me for $10,800 and my monthly payment will be $281. Most people are telling me that it is a steal but i figured yall would know more than most. Please advise.
Thanks
Ron

Sounds like a very good deal to me. I wonder why so cheep. I bought an 01 with 98000 on it a year ago and spent much more on it and it doesn't have the nav system on it. I love the car though and would buy it again in a heart beat. My only problem is that DEER like to look at the front when I am driving. I have hit two since I have owned the car.

Just search the forum for the number of problems that happen on older CL's. And be aware of the tranny problems.
It's a good deal though.

Don't listen to any of them about the tranny, they are actually the strongest in the market.

I just read a report that our tranny was ranked number one in comparison to all other cars made in Kazakhstan and Istanbul.

How bout this, I will sell you my NBP CL-S with 103,000 miles on it for 10,800. Atleast this way you will get a completely modded car with almost all bolt ons. Pretty much all highway miles and you get about $3,000 in upgrades. All bushings and suspension was redone at 80,000 miles.

Yes I got a 2000 mile 2 month warrenty with it covering everything. The interior is tan. I must say I love the acceleration, I ride an 04 Hayabusa so am not really impressed with fast cars but I am really feeling good about this. I had read that Acura will cover the tranny for 100k or 7 years correct?

I think it's now 109k for 8yrs now but you may want to read about the Settlement at the top of the 2nd Gen forum.

Wrong, they actually will cover it for 93 months or 109,000 miles now. But like everyone else was saying, you will not find a better car in the market for the price you are looking at.
Think of it this way.
1.) Great Engine
2.) Handles decent for a FWD car and being heavy, it will handle much better with under 600 bucks in suspension mods.
3.) Good all weather car
4.) Safe
5.) Unique look compared to the new cars on the road. (all new cars are boxy, if you notice the bmw 645 is shaped like our Cl's)
6.) Good gas mileage for the weight and size of our cars engine.
7.) Great seats

Honestly, the negatives are not big issues in the overall scope of the car.

I have decided to buy it. 10,900 with $1,000 down and $241 per month for 5 years. As a second car I dont think I can go wrong I must say though honestly, the Bose system has not really impressed me as of yet. I had a Bose in my 2004 Ml500 I bought my wife and it sounded mind blowing. I think I might have to change out the stock system, sooooooooo if anyone needs stock audio parts let me know Also is there any way to use the navgation DVD player for movies?

that is more than just good mileage on that '01! you'll be covered and safe from the transmission issues as long as you get rid of it in about five years. good luck and welcome.
btw, where are you coming out of?

Yea havent set up my profile yet. I am in Jacksonville Florida. I took it home tonight, going to sign the papers tomorrow. I did notice that the rearview mirror is messed up. It is real foggy looking. I will have to get them to replace it. Also what about new dvds for the navigation? how much will those set me back?

Expensive bro for the DVD, its like 180 bucks for the most updated version. The best thing to do would be to go on ebay and buy last years version. There isnt much of a difference and you will only pay about 30-40 dollars.

Oh ya, thats another thing people forget about. Our auto dim rearview mirrors tend to crap out and not dim. Mine is terrible, only half of it dims and is annoying as hell.

They also tend to explode and leak mirror juice all over the place and ruin plastics. You MIGHT get Acura to replace it as a Goodwill/Safety issue.

99 times out of 100 i would agree with you. The sales manager just so happens to be a good friend of mine, hence the price im getting it for lol. He is making me an appointment for tue to get the two items fixed and is giving me an 06 corvette to demo
