Alum Door Sills Popped Off

Well one I kicked off, the other one was lose I see. I
had prepped the plastic stock sills and bezeled out those ridges so the alum sills would lay flush. I then used superglue to glue it down and clamped it together. I had even bezeled the alum edges smooth so there were no edges to catch on my shoe etc. it looked great with no gaps after I was done, but now, 6 months later, they've come loose.

My next attempt, I may shorten/cut the alum sills to about 18" where the logo is, and try to cut/bezel an inset in the plastic sill to lay them in, no ridges at all. The plastic stock sills are not too much $ , but cutting the inset will be a challenge to make it look clean.

Can someone tell me what is better to use to glue it down? 3m? I had some 3m stuff I used once to rebadge the trunk and it didn't work at all.
thanks.

the 3M 2 sided tape is the best. just make sure both surfaces are clean and free of wax (use rubbing alcohol) before you apply it.

if that doesn't work i suggest throwing the sills in the garbage.

That'd be a real waste. My passenger side sill got kicked off last winter so i reapplied it using epoxy. Bonded to the plastic fairly well and so far so good.

We have West System Epoxy that we use on our rockets. Its a binary liquid meaning two parts need to be mixed together to from a bond. The Epoxy Resin and Hardener by themselves do nothing but once mixed it forms a solid bond. Works pretty damn well.

Can be bought fairly eaisly over the net.

<3 Epoxy. I'm sure the one you use Chap is industrial strength, but you can buy regular epoxy at almost any hardware store and boy does that stuff bond well.

I think they look good but i've got the black 03 interior with silver trim and added a real alum dash kit which matches, but I might cut the sills shorter to half the 4' length, they're too long and not trimmed out well.

2-part epoxy for metal and plastic. Get the quick setting kind.

One of mine got kicked off within 6 months of owning them. It bent the crap out of it so I just pulled the other one off and trashed 'em both. They cost me about $10/month for their use

Well, I got some double sided automotive tape $10, no good, doesn;'t stick well to the plastic. The super glue was a mistake. Lastly I may try the epoxy. then it's trash. I'd rather have lighted ones anyway.
