Alpha Werks Headers Dyno and Technical Info

Just a little update to my resonance comment. I might be the only one with this problem. But either way, with or without resonance, the power increase these headers give you make you all forget about it. It's well worth what you pay for.

As I remember the tip inserts helped provide just enough back pressure to reduce the resonance/droning.
Anyone have them and can say for sure?

R+D Follow-up question
When I say that R+D is in the details it is literally that. Many products look the same because of the restrictions that fitment places on the design.
I do not know what others companies headers are made out of, but ours are real 100% t-304 stainless-steel. Additionally, you have to look at the welds and the seals that are created by the gaskets. If you have leaks you have less efficient performance. We were very particular about this aspect of system during the R+D process. In the end the hp gains are attributed to the flow characteristics and the bends on the inside of the piping and the quality of the seal created to ensure that flow stays constant and uniform.
Each time we put it to test flow, changes are made that even we can't decipher the difference. What we have to do is mark each version 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. to know which one made the best flow and then the most power in mating with the engine because even we can't tell the difference many times.
To demonstrate how identical different versions of headers look alike during the R+D process, take a look at our 350z headers below. The one on the left is our USDM version and the one on the right is the original JDM piece from Alphawerks. Not even I can tell the difference except for the number we scratch into each flange during R+D.
![](http://www.alphawerks.com/alpha_images/headers/350z_02_01.jpg)
If I have any random R+D pieces left over from recent testing I will post them if anyone wants me to really go the extra mile. Remeber all these parts come from Alphawerks Racing Development to us and we make sure that their JDM applications fit the USDM models. Additionally we test every piece for fit, seal, flow and power delivery to assure they back up their claims. If the Alphawerks Racing Development didn't make the power then we ourselves would not be involved in even distributing the product.
Good question though and I hope I have answered it sufficiently...

I guess my new question is the same as the old question but different then. Will that part fit using comptech axleback exhausts and what benefit does that pipe give over the stock part? (I assume there is a difference since the 'cat back' (which I *thought* included the cat and everything in back of it) and 'axle back' have a big price differential)

the headers downpipe is what goes connected to on side of the cat and the red part you circled goes connected to the other side. the yellow part is a resonator to lower the sound of the exhaust so it doesnt drone.
im not sure if that pipe will work with the comptech axle-back.

Think (CATBACK) exhaust system.

Hello,
What we offer is a full cat-back exhaust. This includes both the mid-pipe from the "catalitic converter back" and the axle back exhaust which is composed of the dual exhaust canisters from the car's "rear axle back." Hence the names and the price differential. A cat-back involves 3 times the exhaust components than just the axle back that has the mufflers.
Best,

Hey great news....
My brother put on the header yesterday. The mechanic said it went in just fine there was no problems. The only thing is that he used the original gaskets.
I can tell you one thing big difference, from factory.
Once again I recomend these headers to any one!

And the cat back exhaust was fitted on a '99 TL also, so it will fit the 99-03 TL (ALL), 01-03 CL (ALL) and the 98-02 Accord V6.
Below are some specs on the products and the dyno runs on both an
Acura CL and an Accord V6 that has the same engine.

I would say about the same, or maybe like 5 more hp. But not 10hp.
Remember vtec works when the car is hot.

2010 SHAWD
Im late to the party, how much would the purchase and installation run me on average? I have an icebox already that I haven't installed. I was going to pick up some rims this summer, but I think I'd rather have the performance.

IceBox you can do yourself...its easy if not...it shouldnt run more than $75-100...
Alpha Werks Headers I think would run $550-600...I paid 600 on mine...Install can range from (least)$150-$300(max)...
Unless you do it yourself, which isnt too hard...if you have someone to help yeah..

I contacted them about their price change and they said the $399 was a mistake and people who purchased them while the price was such got a Steal, Literally! Unfortunately they caught it and put the appropriate price in there.
