All-time best driving movie

I still believe that the all-time best driving scenes movie is Ronin. I am still in awe of the driving in that movie. Any other good ones out there? (And don't tell me Gone in 60 seconds, seen it and wasn't that impressed)

Although I think Gone in 60 seconds is one of the best movies in a long time...

I gotta agree Ronin has the best driving scenes... the movie itself however, well... all i can say is at least I have the DVD so I can skip right to the chase scenes

You still have to refer back to the ol' Steve McQueen movie "Bullit" for the classic car racing scenes!

Ya know, I still havent seen that.

Isn't that what Gone in 60 seconds or one of those movies is based after?

I remember seeing a behind the scenes taping of a movie where the director/producer or someone mentioned that.

Take it its good eh?

Oh yeah, it was Jackie Chan's "Who Am I?" I think it was a Evo V. I remember a scene where it did something like a fast 180 and backed into a parking space to fool the guys chasing them. It was that japanese chick who was "driving" at the time. Stunn double I am sure...

Anyone catch that civic going under a semi-truck action sequence in the trailer of The Fast and the Furious?

That is very original...that civic must of been very low riding..

Ronin for the best movie in the last 10 years.

Bullit (with Steve McQueen driving the Mustang himself!) = best older movie.

(Hmmmm, there was also Vanishing Point -- good hwy/top speed movie.) (It was showing up lately on SpeedVision.)

Ronin had some thrillin' speed chasing scenes with that Audi S8 but the movie was all about this stupid secret box.

I forgot but did they ever show what was in the metal case?

There's actually a Jackie Chan flick that's entirely about racing, and he drives (if I remember correctly) a race-prepped 3000GT. It wasn't his best work nor was were the driving sequences that memorable. But there is a scene where his garage, a part of which utilizes a shipping container (RV?) as an office, is hoisted into air by a cutthroat rival with a crane. Predictably, Jackie is in it, and gets shaken out to catch himself by his fingertips on the ledge, with no camera trickery. The man is INSANE.

Yeah I remember that one too. I think in his garage he has a Evo 4 and a badass Rx-7 also.

That movie sucked by the way...

My Top 3 "Chase Movies":
1- Vanishing Point
2- Seven Ups
3- Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry

I also liked just about all the ones you guys mentioned. I didn't see "Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry" mentioned. If you can find it, has some excellent scenes. Peter Fonda stars. Circa 1973-4 I think. Anyone else remember that movie?

Honorable mention to "Live and Let Die" Cars and Boats!

Im sorry guys, this has nothing to do with movies but it does have to do with CHASING

have you guys seen the M5 Commercial? the new one?

On the salt flat and one of those insane land speed record cars is flyin down the flats kickin up a rooster tail of dust like 400 ft in the air and the m5 is next to it the whole time.

its awesome.

Acura needs to do something like that

-Hell Yeah the Peacemaker, make dat PHAT Benz work it hard 4 da money

-Luv the Bond films too..e.g. Living Daylights Aston Martin, Tomorrow Never Dies 750IL and many others..

IMO, The Rock scene with the yellow ferrari spyder and Hummmer/Humvee was better than the entire Gone in 60 seconds movie mostly because the music was *totally* uninspiring on the part of Trevor Rabin; and of course the Rock's soundtrack is my all time kick ass classic by Hans Zimmer. Not that I have anything against Rabin cuz his Armageddon ST was another favorite of mine..just expected more of him.
