All I need to know is if anybody experienced the maintenance required light flashing about 8 times at startup. I only have 6000 miles on my 2001 cls. I didn't drive the car for a full day before this happened. I just want to be at peace until tomorrow or my next appointment, which could be a while. thanks and I hope its not serious.

If the light went off then you are cool. The engine light should always come on and blink when you start the car. No joke.

Totally normal. It's warning you your 7500 mile check-up is close at hand. After 7500 mile it remains on if it's not reset. Read your manual.

yeah, mine started flashing when i turned on my car last week. then on saturday, i changed the oil and the tranny fluid, and it stopped flashing. the car knows when it's time for a normal tune-up

This happens on my moms 99 TL. It should effect anything. After you put it in Drive it goes off. Just a little glitch IMO.

Thanks, and I hope you guys are right. I never noticed it before, and I already had an oil change at 4000 miles. I'll call acura tommorow. I swear though, my dealer doesn't even know about their own cars, It seems like this board is more knowledgable than the guys selling the damn car.

at 6k it starts and at 7.5 it will saty lit unless someone does a reset....which is done by turn the key to the number 2 position then holding both the select and reset for several seconds until the light goes out when it is fully illuminated ...10 seconds is safe it may make a noise...the reset procedure is listed in the manual...before you..i was the photo king...now noone wants to know my name...

It's totally kewl! It has nothing to do with when your oil was changed, it's a simple countdown timer.

Now if the bulb were to fire out of the dash and imbed itself in your forehead.....

I'd be worried.
