Alignment after comptech springs installed
Alignment after comptech springs installed
Is this absolutely neccesary? I have driven 200 miles since my springs were installed and the car does not pull at all and was wondering if this has to be done?
I would do it. My car drove fine too... but when I got the alignment they said it was way off... and they had to adjust everything. In addition I noticed my driver side tire had wear on the inside when I took off my tires/rims for the winter meaning I should have done the alignment earlier. Plus, it was only $50, so it's not expensive....
The general consensus is YES you need the alignment.
I had it done on mine when the springs were installed.
Some will say it’s a waste of 50 bucks, but I think that’s cheaper then new tires will cost if/when they start to wear incorrectly.
With wide tires like ours you’re not going to be able to tell from the drivers seat if it’s OK or not.

ive had my comptech springs on for 9 months and approx 9,000 miles....never had an alignment.....car is still aligned perfectly, no problems whatsoever...tires are not showing any uneven wear whatsoever.....some swear by the alignment after the springs, some (like me) think (and proved) that its really not needed at all....in case some of you guys dont remember, i mentioned in a previous thread about this same topic that im taking my car in for an alignment at my next oil change which will be in about 1 week. i will be taking pictures as well as getting details of what needs to be adjusted (if anything) if my car is out of alignment, then i will shut up and start playing on your side of the ball, but until my car is shown to be out of alignment, i still think that getting an alignment after comptech springs is useless.

not even because of the tires, you are messing w/ the telemetry of the suspension, it's not gonna come out right when you are done. It needs to be readjusted.
Well, considering I have 18,300 miles I could really care less about my tires. I am about ready to buy some new ones, but I think I will get it done because if it is out of alignment some I would not want it to wear out my new tires once I get them and for $50 it is not really a big deal.
here we go again, every manufacturer of any spring RECOMMENDS getting an alignment. it's just to ensure that your car's toe, camber, alignment is fine. if it's not then u MAY need to get a camber kit or get an alignment. if it's ok, then you're in the clear. it's a nice $30-$40 investment especially if it means you are extending the life of your tires
jimcol711: everyone's car is different. that's why they recommend it. sometimes when a car is lowered, the state of the shocks and alignment prior to the lowering of the car only add to a possibility of alignemnt problem, but that's not always the case. it's just a precautionary measure. especially since everyone drives their cars differently, ther'es no way of knowing if everyone's car will be fine after lowering it.

When I talked to the dealership that I plan to have install my springs, I asked him to justify the price he said ($750...ouch!). Part of the price was the alignment. I guess Acura feels that there should be an alignment (or maybe they just feel that I should be $50 poorer!).

$750... that's just nuts. You should be able to find a shop to do it for around $150-$200 in your area... plus $50 for an alignment.....
Jimcol,
I think you should get an alignment. It only cost me $50. My car did not pull either after my install and I figured my car was aligned perfectly so I did not need an install and thus started this thread. Well I took my car and got and alignment and this is what happened. My camber was not off but the toe was way off and the car place told me that you should ALWAYS get an alignment after any work is done to the suspension because the car can still drive perfectly straight and you think it is aligned when in fact it is not.
