Well see you guys are getting me into trouble here lol, at the point my CLS is Mod free, i know nothing about mods other then what i have read from the difference posts.

As for more HP, i'd love to have more, but its to tempting to race on the road, and thats the last thing i want to get involved in. Thats why i love speed boats, on the open water go as fast you want

ALL i want to do is Increase my MPG.

The 2 Mods i will do is

High Flow Filter
Denso Iridium plugs.

I will start from there and see if there is a difference ........

it says right on the page... " ULTRA HIGH QUALITY REPLICA PRODUCT"... The real thing? I think not... Just invest in a good K&N and you will be 10x happier because you will be getting a reuseable cotton filter instead of a cheap foam knockoff. Performance wise i am positive you won't see much of a difference if you are putting them on the bottom of a CAI...

Yeah just get a k&n, those ebay knockoffs are garbage

Plus, the k&n has a reputable warranty, can you say the same for that ebay thing?

Most I've gotten is 417 miles, and that was with constant 60mph cruise control & no WOT. To get 550 miles you'd have to average 33.3mpg, assuming you run it till you only have 1/2 gallon left. I hope you plan on coasting downhill alot.

Your right but i wrote about it before.....some one respected ACL memebers have come close to 500miles on a full tank........

On my last long distance drive last month, i drove from Ft.lauderdale to Lakewales FL and then to orlando , its 200 miles each way to lakewales. Filled the tank up drove, up and returned.

When i got back to Ft Lauderdale i had 450miles on the clock. My tank was just alittle under half....... Between the middle mark and E. Now from experience i know when the fuel light comes on i can get an easy 30-35miles.

So based on all that assuming everything is the same with my car.....i should be able to reach 500miles.

I have to drive to Orlando this week. probably be a reduction due in MPG to the lower temps.

But early next year when the temp picks up i'll fill the tank and see how many miles i can get on a full tank ......and take pics along the way to show you guys ...

IMO based on the driving i do its possible, if i did not think so, there is no way i'd sit here and write about it....

BTW roads in FL are FLAT no hills

Well I wish ya luck, not saying its BS, I'm just skeptical.

I suppose if you set the cruise at 65mph and didnt stop for the entire tank, never had any traffic, and it was 60* and no wind, didnt use the AC, and had the tires inflated at 40psi, I guess you could maybe get 33mpg. That's alot of if's tho.

F900, i doubt u can get 550miles with k&n drop in...when i was in TN, i mean my best mpg was around 31.x(all stock)...after i got k&n drop in and hks exhaust on my cls, the best mpg was 32.x miles and that's only one person(me)in the car with no a/c / no spare tire / all highway cruise at 70mph! so, be honest with u, k&n really give no hp gain and i don't feel a big improvement on mpg either...only one good thing about K&N is you are getting a high quality reuseable cotton filter.

maybe u can consider getting icebox b/c here a lot of members said they got more better mpg with icebox...all in all, with icebox u can get more mpg and more hp! it's a winwin situation...a happy ending!

Thanks VTEC... for that info.....

Your probably right, BUT i'm still going to try, as long as i'm over 500, i'll be happy......

If i buy other Mod, i'll get the Comptech Icebox Air Intake System, i see a local fellow member has one install, so i might meet up with him see what it sounds like, as i have read it makes the engine noise louder.....Not looking for the HP gains, Nice to have, temping to ....but more interested in the MPG gains

For right now i'll get the........ And see where that gets me

K&N High Flow Filter
Denso Iridium plugs

Honestly I doubt that you'll recover the $$ you spend to get those extra mpg unless you driver the car 200K miles.

I think you're all missing the point.

That is a replacement filter for a cold air or short ram intake. If you don't already have one you'd have to buy all the piping to connect this filter.

Stick to the K&N or Comptech drop-in filter.

Maybe so, but for the 2 items its less then $200, for me i consider it worth it, i drive about 30,000 miles a year. like i said if i get a improvment in MPG, even if its a small amount, i'll be happy..
