After 4 years of serving, finally starting to fail on me

My transmission started to acting weird

Transition from 1st to 2nd, started to slip/jerk
Transtion from 2nd to 3rd, throttle will stick for another 500 rpm before shifting

I am sensing a new transmission soon

Anything I can do? Hopefully my car don't fail on me for another 2 weeks.

For those who had experienced this, how long before your transmission actually fail on you when this happen?

Sorry to hear about this. Keep driving it and see how it progresses, it will most likely hold for 2 weeks. Buy a Honda odyssey transmission, they do not break.

When was the last time you changed the ATF or did a 3x3? I've heard of a few cases where people squeeze out an additional few weeks or months by just swapping the fluid.

Also, read this:

Quick questions:

1) Approximately how much it cost to swap to 6sp?
2) Does 6sp Tranny only work with type S engine?
3) Honda Odyssey tranny is direct bolt on?

For the 6MT swap your best bet is to find a wrecked CL-S6 and swap everything over to your car, even the motor. You can find wrecked CLs for around $3500 and part the rest of the car out and make most of your money back.

But the easier, and cheaper (up front at least) is the Odyssey tranny option. Id go with that and drive till the wheels fall off.

Was this last transmission installed by Acura dealership after 2005?

I got the car in summer of 2005, so I think the transmission was installed before 2005

wouldnt it be easier to sell the car and buy a used 6 speed. I understand 2g tl's doing 6 speed swaps but not really cl's when you can get 6 speeds for 5-10k.

His transmission is acting up now, so he probably doesn't have the time (or money) to look up to see what 6MTs are available, pick out the one in the best shape, etc.

Not to mention he's on the west coast. Seems all the 6MTs are on the east coast.

New update:

Car is acting very weird,

1) When shifting into reverse, it makes 1 knocking noise.
2) When shifting into D5, it takes a long time to engage, the car will be in neutral for 5 ~ 8 seconds or so before the gear engage.

Can I even bring the car back to LA? about 100 miles

Go easy on it?

The knock into reverse makes me think mounts though. But that would explain the long gear change into D5.

Car finally broke down on me in the middle of the street, locked on 3rd gear and rev so high, then check engine came on and everything became neutral

Surprisingly after few hours in the lot, i started the car again, the D engage again and drives normal again with the check engine.

Explanation?!?!?

So this mechanics told me that I should be using OEM acura ATF, and he claimed that the car should run fine after flushing the transmission with OEM acura ATF (approximately $200). What are you guys' input on this?

Drive around for 10 minutes and shift through all 5 gears (dont drive like an animal). Park it and immediately check the level of the tranny fluid. The fact that you changed it just before you experienced problems gives me the idea the fluid may be too high/low. High is worse, fyi. It's important to check it after driving so the fluid gets to operating level.

I use Honda fluid to be safe (same as Acura OEM). Cost me about $100 for a 12 quart case at the local Honda dealer.

The tranny definitely might be done at your mileage, but it's worth a test of the fluid since it is VERY sensitive to fluid level.

G/L!
