The AEM has an aggressive roar at VTEC, I'm thinking of switching to Comptech soon to quiet things down.

AEM sounds great, and you don't really notice the sound difference until you really get up in the rpm's, and if you are doing that you should expect your engine to get loud. Other than that, sounds normal. The AEM is cheaper, but the comptech looks to have a better housing for the filter as it is not exposed.

AEM:
Cheaper
Louder
Less Hp gains
Intake sucking noise at low speeds/idle

Comptech:
Dealer Install/Warranty
Stock Looking
Greater HP gains (dyno proven, 1-2hp)
Quiet when not in VTEC
Not as loud as the AEM in VTEC but it still has a very nice growl to it.

Well, I defy you to feel 1-2hp but if you want a quieter car then Comptech is the way to go. My headers make enough noise! The AEM noise is cool but not something you want daily I would say.

You're way off. Comptech Iceboxes produce 10 to 15 horsepower at the wheels.

Headers

Thinking about adding headers to my 01 cl s. If anyone has any experiance as to how much HP I can expect to gain that would be appreciated. Also has anyone had any problem with exhaust leaks after adding headers to their car? Is one set of pipes more problematic than another? I am just wondering why such a big difference in prices.

Thank you for the informaion.

I was saying compared to the AEM it will produce 1-2 hp more.

Comptech is the only way to go. You'll get 20+ horsepower out of them, Acura dealers will install and warranty them, and the build quality is the best out of all the header choices.

I love my icebox but considering the gains are very similar you may want to opt for the cheaper AEM intake so you can hear the roar as well.

the icebox is pretty good, you notice the power all throughout

the headers you can notice more but only between 5-7k

The Ice Box does not need a bypass valve as is suggested for the other types of CAI where the filter is down low in the fender well where water can be injested and hydrolock your engine.
