I just put in a AEM V2. at idle it has a honing sound coming from yhe filter. What the hell is making that noise?

 

yea man that's the way she goes. notice when the A/C is on it gets louder. that's how it is.

nothing can be done about that. dunno how loud yours is. i got the injen cai. but it's loudest when u start the car and engine is cold. and or when the a/c is on. u'll get use to it. I sure did.

 

my buddy got rid of his v2 on his rsx because of how loud it was lol

 

Hmm....my V2 doesn't that sound, but its on a TL-S? But I do have a slight whistle during low rpm acceleration.

 

Completely normal. Welcome to the world of CAIs. If you want it to be silent, get the CT Icebox.

 

i like the noise... ppl are like WTF when u turn off the car... that HUGE SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS sound.

Maybe but its annoying as hell. Normal driving, it doesnt matter how much gas I give it, all you hear is a swooooosh which as the RPMs rise, it turns to high pitched wistle.

Then when I let off the damn flex pipe resonates, so it sounds like Im running low boost

I dont like misrepresenting myself to other cars, but it does actually work in scaring them off.

Get an injen.

Make sure u got all the hoses are in the right locations.. or else u could get that noise ur describing.

My bro's prelude did that ever since he got the skunk2 manifold installed on it. And I believe it's dude to one or more hoses not being in the right location.

 

you should really read his build thread... His intake is custom made for the custom TB paul made him to go along with the ported IM. Much, much more intense than any after market CAI

My engine pulls a shitload of vacuum too. Most are in the 14-18lb range, mine is closer to 28. My bitch loves to suck

Yea, it just gets annoying. I may build a box for it to quiet it down a la CT Icebox.

 

The only noise I've really noticed with my Injen was when I drive around while the car is still warming up, I can hear it kind of "breathing"

And then when I turn it off it gives off a deep exhale

My intake is still making that noise. At start up no noise but when she is warmed up its a constant whoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sound. I searched the form for other tales but all they refer to a loud sound which dosent say much as to what sound. I love it when i kick the gas and it makes a roar! but the idle noise seems as though i am trying to deafen the everyone on the street. WTF is it? I saw a video with the same sound. Check this out. Sounds normal to me. If you stand in front of my car at idle, you hear a whistling, buzzing sound. You can hear it about 10ft away too. Its just the nature of open element intakes.
