Ummm... it says "AEM" on the intake pipe!??! For some reason AEM's instructions have you remove the front wheel. I didn't take it off when I installed mine but I did remove the battery so there was plenty of clearance when installing the intake. I have no idea why they say take off the front wheel. It didn't obstruct anything for me.

I simply asked if a Xephyr intake is as crazy to install as that AEM.

This shot definitely shows one problem with the AEM design.
I think this shows the point where the filter can be punctured by the fastener that holds the bottom plastic baffle on.
You can see the filter through the small fastener hole.
The Xephyr design sits farther above this connection point.
Again, not to flame, just pointing out a potential problem to AEM buyers.

That picture is of an AEM intake, gto. It does sit horizontally and it also sits too low. AEM now has some spacers out to raise it up a bit and they'll send you a new filter (still waiting for mine) if yours was damaged. What they really need to do is explicity call out this problem in the instructions so it can be avoided. Whether or not they've done that.... I don't know.

The spacers DO raise the unit up and away from the fastener. The 2 washers that they machined for mine are about as thick as 2 quarters (or nickels).
BTW -- the "new" ones shouldn't need the washers. AEM said the "early" units had their brackets positioned incorrectly.
