Aem Cai
Aem Cai
don't get the AEM CAI its a waste of money and its poorly made. i put mine on for only 2 week and the bracket that connect the tube to the car broke off and left a hole on the tube.. should i send it back to AEM or get the Injen one, was thinkin about getting the Injen and send back the AEM then sell it
Sup Newbie. Welcome to the board. In terms of the AEM CAI I've never had a problem w/ it and it's made a good mod. Even here in Houston w/ lots of flooding, the bypass valve has worked like a charm. If I were you just send it back to AEM, I'm sure they'd replace it. Never tried Injen, so can't comment. Another option is the CT ice box. Good luck.
Sure you got a real AEM?
You really had problems with it?
I've had the V2 AEM CAI on my 01 CL for a year now, no issues, great power, great sound.
Actually, I've had AEM intakes on my Integra, all 3 of my Civics, my Del Sol and on my CRX. They make a good product that they stand behind. I bent the intake on my CRX doing the B18 swap - and they replaced it, free of charge.
Think someone either sold you a bogus intake, or you didnt use the bushings on the bolt that holds the intake to the top of the inside of the fender well.
I'd write to AEM - they do write back. If it's a problem due to improper install however, I doubt they'll be much help.
Good luck. I've been doing this import thing for 10 years now, don't waste money on the Injen if you're disappointed with the AEM - do an icebox or something with different design. The Injen is pretty close in design to the AEM, and not nearly the quality.

this one of the first time i have heard this happen...next time dont tighten teh piece tht holds the intake into the frame of the car so tightely maybe a big bump snapped it off from jiggling in the engine bay since it was so tight, give it some leeway so it flexes next time.
I had this problem. Broke after the CAI was about 1.5 years old. Called AEM and they just wanted some pics to verify the problem. I sent over some digital shots and they agreed to replace it at no cost. The person to email is kle@aempower.com. He should be able to take care of you.

I have the Injen, and the connection point from the tube to the body of the car is in a different location than that of the AEM and is attached with a double-sided screw with a flexable rubber piece in the middle (if that makes any sense) making it almost impossible to snap.
I have only had it in for 2 months, but I really like what I've gotten out of it so far.
But if diori had good luck sending it back, I would go with that.
Good luck!!
