Aem Cai
I didnt when I had mine on. but I could see how you would. if you dont position the piece coming off the AEM pipe on the rubber mount just right, it will touch the inside sheet metal of the engine bay. its hard to explain and I have an icebox now so I cant take a pic ..
i have one on my 98 integra. hasn't caused me any problems, but i dont really trust the bypass valve. the pipe comes into contact with some metal in the engine bay somewhere, but so far it hasnt caused any problems....not dented or anything. sounds great
my CAI hasnt had any rattleing noise, and it's like really far away from the sheet metal to rub on it,but just in case you can apply like a piece of fabric to prevent it to rub on the sheet metal causing a big crack on the intake

I had the rattling.
I wrapped some tape around the intake where it was touching the sheet metal. It was tape from a hardware store that has some kind of padding on the back of it. Took two minutes and two dollars to fix.

I had a bit of rattling too. I wrapped an old piece of 3" piping (cut up one side) and hose-clamped it at the point behind the fender where it was closest to the metal frame. Fixed it perfectly. You'll love the sound!
BTW, I'll be selling mine next week (w/ bypass valve) after I get the supercharger and icebox.

Get what you pay for. Or are you feeling lucky?

Quality control is not exactly "special."
I was down at AEM twice to get one that worked right.
And, that was after it was installed at the factory.
BTW, they didn't install the correct hose either.
You get what you pay for applies here.
My current one is fine (knock on wood). However, they seem to have had problems with quality control. (And this is a very long story.)
Don't get the bypass valve -- it really kills the sound, power, and can get ingested when it comes apart.

not to mention resale on the icebox is alot more. and no need for a bypass valve. I'm glad I made the switch.. worth the extra hundred dollars.

as someone having done it already .. I can tell you that you won't be sorry for making the switch .. even if just for the peace of mind .. and maintaining the "stock" look
most of the hard work is already done, like swapping the coolant lines, so the icebox went in quick.
