AEM CAI=Power?????????

AEM CAI=Power?????????
For all those with a C.A.I., is there a noticable difference in performance? I was also wondering, if I do get one, do I need the bypass valve? Help is greatly appreciated!!!!!!

Yes, the performance is a little noticable...but don't expect anything outragous...it is just an intake. A By-pass valve is a safe bet just in case you run into a river of water...some buy it, some don't.... In my opinion, it's worth the $40...

I think there is an increase in power,it's hard to tell exactly because i also have headers and the exhaust. As a package the 3 mods are awesome and the car is noticeably quicker. The sound from the intake is addictive and i don't know why i waited so long. I got the bypass just for peace of mind.

The AEM CAI only increase HP by 2-3 not 10-15 Joe! I can hardly feel the difference...I just installed mine 2 days ago...I'm gonna get the AEM power pulleys soon. They should help more...
The cai makes such an awesome sound though...that alone is worth the price...

Just installed my 30min ago. Really sucks that you have to take the damn bumper off! Sounds BEAUTIFUL! Much deeper sound... As for power, I'm sure its there, but you will really only notice it on the track. I think it should cut about .2 off my time. I really think the only thing you will notice on the road is the sound. This will make you THINK your noticing a difference. Just my $.02

Why did you remove the bumper? That wasn't necessary! I just undid the clips under the car holding the splashguard up and had all the access I needed.
Oh well...still love it....

Let's just put it this way...most intakes make power relative to the size of the motor, design of the stock intake, and size of the throttle body.
We have a 3.2L (which allows us to make more power than a 1.8L via an intake.)
The intake design on our airbox is good, but way too many baffles and the pipe is too small.
Our throttle body is bigger than a Mustang..I think it was close to 68mm<---I know it's big, but I could be very wrong too....by attaching a 3" smooth flowing pipe...the full size of the throttle body can be utilized...
Thus, the hp gains of 10@ wheel are not unreasonable.

As proved by Mike's famous dyno, 8 HP to the wheels.
Also note that, Between 0-5500 rpms, the new Mystery Mod will give more torque and Horspower improvement than the CAI and the Comptech Headers combined!!
Here is the Dyno for the Mystery Mod:
