AEM air bypass valve needed for CAI??

do you have to get the bypass valve when you get the AEM CAI or can you do without? i want to make sure my car doesnt get F*cked up so id rather spend the money if its going to help. also, does it have a negative impact on performance?? you guys have me REALLY close to being 100% convinced to start modding my new CL-S and i think id like to start with the CAI...as long as i will physically notice some difference in performance OTHER than the sound of the engine...does this thing void the warrenty, by the way???? or will i have to always put the factory setup back in if i take the car in for service....how hard is it to install the AEM CAI??? im pretty mechanically inclined and have tools but i dont want to do it if theres a chance id break something on my new car...thanks for any input guys!

For the cost of the valve, you can't go wrong. It's a small price to pay for insurance.

Get the bypass valve. No use risking an engine that costs thousands of dollars when the bypass is only like $40.

Look in search – there is all the info you could want….

If you have areas of high water, you are risking a blown engine if the water gets up to the bumper.

However, you will lose a bit of power with the addition of it.

You can always put a rubber hose in place of the valve if you want to insure that hot air and turbulence don't mess-up your power gains.

The AEM CAI will suck water at around the same point that the stock system will (close enough).

So, if you think you are in an area that is going to be flooded, get it. If you want max power, see about getting a 3" piece of hose to replace the valve during the summer (or when the monsoon season is over)...
