Adding RCAs to stock bose system

I will be upgradng my stereo system, and I wanted to convert my high levels to RCA inputs. Which line convertor is the best for our cars? Is there something else we need to change, since we have a bose deck?

Thanks,

Spiro

I'm doing the same to my car. I've ordered an Audiolink PD4 bose adapter which is suppose to get here Tuesday. I'm gonna upgrade the speakers and the amp but keep the stock head unit. Checkout www.audiolink.com . The PD4 is only available direct from Audiolink at this time, and it's not the cheapest one out there. But from looking at the specs, it is very versatile. I know Crutchfield sells the audiolink PL2's for like $30 each. This is a simpler version but should do the job as well.

Are those supposed to be good? I definately dont want to go cheap on my line converter. I will go to an audio forum, and ask them if its good.

You don't acutally need to do that, you can splice the line level inputs into the amp and not mess with the line converters. I know instructions for that and the schematics have been posted before.

The reason why I dont want to do thta is because I will be adding an Equalizer in the front.

mcdanjw,

Have you spliced into your signal level wires? If so, how did that turn out? Any noise or pops? I'm going to install my system this weekend and I want to do the same thing. I have the instructions and plans for doing it, and I've heard the theory, but I want to know if anyone has actually done this in practice.

I spliced into my line level inputs to add in a home made mp3 player / computer. It worked well and the sound was great. Since then i have taken out the mp3 player and left the splices with just rca connectors i put in connecting it back together. It all still sounds as good as before (did the install in january). No problems.

I spliced all 4 of the inputs into the amp in the trunk and put RCAs on all of them. I then put in an a-b switch for an alternative input source (a portable minidisc player). I then used y spitters to run the signal after the a-b switch to both the stock amp and my amp for my subwoofer. I did get some noise, but a ground loop isolater ($15 bucks at Radio Shack) fixed it completely.

Hope that helps. It sounds great!
