Acurazine, Helms, ODBII scan tool are my friends
Saved me a bunch of money today.
Getting on the turnpike, dashboard lights up like a Christmas tree (SRS and check engine light blinking) - first I think oh shit, tranny, but wait I'm in a 99TL, we don't have tranny problems.![Big Grin](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Pull over, put it in park, give the car some gas. The car is shaking like crazy. Sounds and feels like a cylinder is misfiring.
Pull out the ODBII scanner and it throws code P1399 (Random multiple misfires)
Limp home and go to my trusty research tool (Acurazine). See what the expert have to say.
Hmmm...off to the garage.
Pull out the Helms and start testing. Figure it's either plugs, coil packs or injectors. Checked wiring but nothing abnormal.
So I start with the cheap fix. Replace the plugs. No difference. Call Princeton Acura and pick up a single coil pack - these things are ~$50 a piece and they won't say if I can return it or not. No sense buying more than one now.
One at a time I replace the existing coil packs with the new one, front left then front middle then front right - nothing![Frown](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Back right, middle - now I'm getting worried - and these are a bitch to get to.
Planning to call AAA to have it towed to Acura
Back left -
success
Thanks Acurazine, Helms and my ever-trusty ODBII scan tool. Saved me a bunch of cash at the dealer.

Hey Shawn, wasn't sure if you knew this, but the TL and CL share the same engine and engine issues.

Read this and it saved me money!! Thanks!
Check engine light went on...car engine was knocking...so I decided to run down to Autozone to pick up a OBDII Reader.
Said all cylinders had misfired. Reset the code. Reread it again after the check engine light came on. It said cylinder 5 and 3 had misfired. Did it again, and the same errorrs came on.
Went down to the Acura dealership and picked up 2 coil packs, took a guess on where the cylinders were, replaced them, and all was fixed. Runs smooth!!!
This is my guess on the numbering of the cylinders looking at the front of the car with the hood open.
Passenger side <---> Driver Side
4 5 6
3 2 1
Anyway, if I'm wrong, maybe somebody can correct me.
...just wanted to contribute to this thread since it helped me.
Oh...by the way, I have a 99 Acura 3.2 TL.
