Acura Love Revival

So after a 2-3 year hiatus I am back in the game with another CL Type-S. My original was an '01 Satin Silver Metallic. My "new" Type-S is an '01 Sundance Gold.

Picked this car up on monday evening for the outrageous price of $2000. 2 Days later and an extra $500 spent, it has been cleared go for modification by my transmission guy and mechanic.

I'll get you guys pics once I have it plated and insured which should be tomorrow....

Already have '03 Tails in my possesion and am trying to find some '03 Heads and bumper inserts in the BM (if I can't guess Im going to acuraoemparts.com).

^ He said there was an issue with the tranny. Its easy to pick up a car on the cheap when the tranny is shot. Sellers are usually desperate to move it.

was originally listed for $4500 but then the guy who was selling said it wouldnt rev past 3k so he thought there was a big problem with it.

the car sat since september and the battery died so all the sensors were fucked pretty much

drove it home 30 miles with no issue, next day brought it by my transmission guy and he said everything looked fine, gave me a fluid exchange and new engine oil.

after that it went to my mechanic who did a coolant, brake and power steering fluid exchange and also checked the plugs and codes.

Only thing wrong is something with the evap system because there is some gas on the gas cap seal so its not venting properly.

Otherwise after all the checks it became a $2500 car but still a badass deal.

(there is some body damage mostly peeling paint on the bumpers and it does have a clear title)

so they have been repainted improperly before, as long as there is no frame damage/structual damage, they can easily be repainted to look like new

and depending on the mileage of the car, body is not going to be 100% perfect with door dings and such (as long as nothing is more extensive then door dings)

It such a uniqe color:

basically the front and rear bumpers need a respray since it looks like the previous owner hit something and had a crappy respray. frames are all straight.

Put the '03 tails on it already

Came with a crappy wheel/winter tire combo from tirerack.com so I definetly need to drop it and put new wheels and tires on along with a medium tint.

Next weekend I will have KYB AGX/H&R sport Springs Combo (or KSport coilovers) on the car but I need to find a set of wheels to get to put on the car after that drop.

Side Note:

Does anyone know if there's a rear deck made without the back-up light on it? I was wondering since I know the trunk spoiler is a dealer installed option but maybe there were some made straight from the factory with the spoiler and no third brake light in the window?

when you have the back window tinted, you just pull out the third brake light, and normally they will just tint the area, so it is not very visible

How did the trans guy determine that everything was ok with the trans? Did he drop the trans and look at it?

yep, he said all the clutch packs looked to have normal wear and nothing serious "jumped" out at him so he put it back together and gave me fresh Honda ATF.

taking apart an auto trans and putting it back together is a pita. how long did he have it for? check to see if he actually did take it out by looking at any unusual scratches around the subframe, and bolt holes

Had it from tuesday-thursday last week at the trans shop. I replacing some minor suspension parts this weekend, I'll check for those unusual scratches then.

I think I need to find a new transmission guy that knows Hondas better...

D5 flashing, CEL, VSA and Triangle all illuminated today.

Guess some things are too good to be true

And be careful. You dont want that thing dropping into second when youre on the highway. That will be very bad.

wow, that is terrible...hah I saw that you got it for $2000, and was thinking "damn they're basically going for free nowadays...maybe I should get another one just to keep around the driveway"

Good luck with the fix.
